Reason: Aliasing synonymous tags to outdoor_sex (derived from topic #29999 and topic #30000). Let me know if aliasing these to outdoor_sex is fine, or if folks would prefer these tags aliased to outside_sex.

Is there much point having this tag vs just searching outside sex?

I can't really see it returning many false positives compared to other tag pairs and it would provide many more results (over 20,000) than the currently undertagged outside_sex tag (less than 800)

I'm not sure. My guess is that outside_sex is largely being utilized due to 'sex taking place in an outdoors setting' being a fairly popular kink. It could also be a slightly convenient way to add outside and sex to a post via a single tag (if someone is using the Quick Tags when editing a post), as well as searching for 1 tag instead of 2. But these advantages might not be significant enough to be worth keeping, and as you point out searching for outside + sex currently returns a much larger quantity of results. It could become more useful in the future, but admittedly the current practical advantages of the outside_sex tag are fairly small.

Edit: Also (if this tag is kept), I'm unsure whether outdoor_sex or outside_sex should be the name utilized for this tag.

I personally think outdoor_sex sounds better than outside_sex. If being consistent with other outside tags is deemed more important, though, I won't argue it.

I agree. "Outdoor sex" is pretty unambiguous in its meaning, while "outside" is just the opposite of "inside" (e.g. "think outside the box"). "Outside sex" sounds like it could refer to non-penetrative sex instead, especially if you speak English as a second language.

This seems like a good point. If we’re focusing on what sounds the best, I’ll argue for sex_outdoors instead, as well as changing outside_masturbation to masturbating_outdoors and nude_outside to outdoor_nudity. Those last two are so underutilized, however, it may not be worth bothering with them.

Ok. After reflecting about this BUR, I came to the conclusion that this is not a good idea. First of all, outside_sex in the current way people are using it is useless. They are basically going through posts with outside sex and tagging outside_sex.

They don't seem to realize that the outside and inside tag are based on VIEWPOINT. The way this tag should be used is when the action of sex is happening in a location that differs from the outside and inside tags.

So we can have posts that have their viewpoints from the inside, but sex is happening outside. inside + outside_sex.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find some good examples, the closest were:

post #500294 The viewpoint is from inside (a house?), but sex is happening outside: inside + outside_sex.

post #2046869 This is just to help visualize what I'm saying, but if the characters were more outside the cave and the viewpoint stayed the same, it could be tagged as: inside + outside_sex.

And we can have posts that have a viewpoint from outside but sex is happening inside: outside + inside_sex.
