Topic: Finely a good reason why Bronys should NOT be considered part of the furry fandom (please note this is a CIVILISED! discussion and i will not allow any hate speech)

Yes! I have done it! I have now proven that bronys are not part of the furry fandom, as I said above, NO HATE SPEECH PLEASE! I would like to keep this civil and not have it removed. After extensive pondering with alex, we got it at the same time, it was so simple I was blushing at how i had not seen it. Bronys are FANS!!! they are not a sub culture like the furry fandom, but a mere fan club. I would like to hear your thoughts on this guys if you don't mind. CIVIL GUYS!

I wrote this in another thread, but it's interesting and probably relevant to your search.

mlp - 516 pages
mlp feral - 299 pages (58% feral)
mlp anthro - 122 pages (24% anthro)

fox - 288 pages
fox feral - 21 pages (7% feral)
fox anthro - 202 pages (70% anthro)

mammal -mlp - 1786 pages
mammal feral -mlp - 170 pages (10% feral)
mammal anthro -mlp - 1037 pages (58% anthro)

Notice the proportions between fox and mammal are fairly similar.

Any fanbase = a subculture.

Enjoy the eventual threadlock/ban.

Even easier: Furry fandom -implies-> fandom -implies-> implies fans.

They are also both subcultures.

Bronies also rarely go "murr" (mostly for irony)

Also the whole into ponies thing is a pretty big distinction.

Please explain how it will affect the thread if you allow something or not.

Also, who cares? The art is furry by definition, thus we allow it.
We don't give a damn about whether or not the subculture sees itself as part of the furry fandom or not.

Also:

Wikipdia says:
Fandom (consisting of fan [fanatic] plus the suffix -dom, as in kingdom) is a term used to refer to a subculture composed of fans characterized by a feeling of empathy and camaraderie with others who share a common interest. Fans typically are interested in even minor details of the object(s) of their fandom and spend a significant portion of their time and energy involved with their interest, often as a part of a social network with particular practices (a fandom); this is what differentiates "fannish" (fandom-affiliated) fans from those with only a casual interest.

They are a fandom, the thing they are fans of share many characteristics with what furries are fans of, there is inevitable and unavoidable overlap, people get mad a labeling.

Ah yes but the furry FANDOM is a subculture yes? and thus the pony FAN club should not be counted as a sub clutre, now let me point something out here, where is all the media hate for the bronys? where are the news threads labelling them gay people who think pink ponys are cool? and yet still over 30 years on the furrys still have to cop it when the bronys don't, how is that fair on us? please explain.

Have you been living under a rock? They have to deal with the hate as well.
Being called horsefuckers or faggots, having someone being bullied into suicide for liking mlp,...

The list is not a short one of what they had to deal with in the last 2 or 3 years.

I'm sorry but this is probably the most obnoxious thread title I've seen during my time here.

If anything, bronies have taken the heat off of furries.

or doubled it by bringing in pink ponys into the anti furry hate I get from most people I play with online now.

I'm going to take a wild guess in saying that you probably play Team Fortress.

no i prefer halo (no hate speech there) but soon as i go on battlefield or something else, its there. I get things like. go eat some grass with your pink pony boyfriend (despite the fact i am not in a relationship with any human or. . . what ever it is a brony is). then when i try to explain that bronys are a fans not a sub culture, they could care less, and it seems that even most of the furry fandom is thinking they are a sub culture, there not though it is that hard to see?

To other people I could easily see how it would look like a subculture. The difference really doesn't matter to most people because it all falls into "that weird geeky thing I'm not a part of".

Honestly, you are probably better off not trying to educate people on the nuances of brony vs furry culture while they are making fun of you. Particularly when getting someone angry and typing is a time-honored way to make them perform poorly and lose.

Why are you letting this bother you so much?

It doesn't matter what your interests include; whatever you do, you'll always find that online gaming is a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

ah but you see thats where they fail on all fronts, (quite lit rally) because I have alex, and no matter how hard some one try's to get me mad now they will fail, i will counter with humour, and while they are insulting me... I bomb them back to the stone age.

but you see, anyone who has the slightest bit of knowledge about the furry fandom descends on me like a human on a free dollar. and i dont care what they think, its the fact they think the the furrys and bronys are the same, now i dont hate bronys as much as i use to, they like ponys, i like wolves sergals gryphons dragons etc etc etc they are who they are, and i am who i am (its that simple) its the fact they think i like pink ponys as well, now the old MLP was alright so's the new one to, to be honest, but im sure as i love a sergal not a brony. its the fact that they think i am that gets to me. and when i try to explain they are diffrent, well, you can see how thats going.

It's funny because that's basically Halite's sense of humour.
