Topic: Hentai Foundry's submission process is rather odd

Posted under Art Talk

Unlike most porn art sites, which you can submit stuff and they get submitted shortly after, users on Hentai Foundry have to wait 5 days until their submission either gets approved or rejected. To make things even MORE stupid, when their submissions get rejected, they'll have to get advice from other artists to figure out why they got rejected. What kind of porn art site has users submit their content and wait 5 days for it to be approved/rejected?

The site that wants to maintain curation and focus.
Problem with user generated content websites is that in many cases you do get a lot of accounts which post trash and stuff againts rules which can be on the site for weeks.

Also it is their website and it's their right to maintain it how they please, so if the way they do is is inconvinient to you, then don't use it :V

I personally think it's a little silly a user submitted gallery art site wants to run itself like a booru, when several already exist, but it's a just a personal opinion.

Makes me wonder where the site is located, what laws they have to adhere to. In the U.S., that kind of curation could take them out of the DMCA safe harbor and make them liable for copyright infringement for any unauthorized copies that manage to get through their curation, which would be a really odd decision on their part. Though if they're not in the U.S., maybe the country's laws allow them to curate that way safely.

I think it’s intended to be less like an art gallery and more like a proper porn site. While all the content has to be provided directly by the artists themselves, I think they curate it because they want to keep the experience for the average user better than what you get from a non-curated site, having to wade through a lot of garbage to find anything you like. I mean, that’s why I never browse FurAffinity. No curation, a lot of garbage.

Either way, I don’t mind. If it takes a few days to become public, it doesn’t really matter since my art is always available on other sites immediately. My stuff always gets approved, too, so their standards aren’t absurdly high, as I’m not really an expert artist myself. I’m just glad (and somewhat surprised) that they accept furry art in the first place, considering how their focus is on hentai.

I think they might actually be in the US. Their Terms of Service states that they don’t accept any content that includes real-life pornography because they don’t want to deal with the hassles caused by complying with US law 18 U.S.C. 2257. I think it might be that they actually do verify every upload to ensure that it isn’t copyright infringement. That might be why it takes 3-5 days for a post to get approved.
