Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: himbo -> invalid_tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #54975 himbo -> invalid_tag has been rejected.

Reason: As much as I enjoy the niche existence of this tag, it suffers from the same nebulously subjective and underused problems as its distaff counterpart. We could potentially keep himbofication though.

EDIT: The tag alias himbo -> invalid_tag (forum #318886) has been rejected by @bitWolfy.

We're making an effort to move invalid tags into the invalid category, instead of aliasing them into invalid_tag. This helps people know which tag they used was actually invalid, instead of (possibly) playing the guessing game when attempting to avoid adding invalid tags.

So, -1 to the alias, and I instead suggest relocating it into the invalid category.

never heard of this.
So it's basically a normal male getting turned into a FRAT BOY

"oh yeaaah football, beer, sports!"

To my understanding, Himbo is a gendered term for a male who looks hot, but is/acts stupid. There may be more that I didn't know, but that's the gist of it from the memes I've witnessed.

"Himbofication" would be the process described by Closet (Mr. Possum?), similar to bimbofication

I was about to argue about seeing the value in tagging the himbo trope: the big muscle dude that is kind, but is naive or dumb. The classic "kind of heart, dumb of ass".

But checking how it's being tagged, it doesn't look much useful. Seems like any instance of muscular_male is being tagged like that.

Essentially, the male equivalent of the stereotypical bimbo. Great looks, empty head.

No thoughts, head empty, only Kelso from here on.

Wouldn't it be better to alias the tag to muscular_male instead of making it invalid then?

I could clean the tag, but it's it worth the trouble? Is a tag like this common on e6?

I could see himbo/bimbo being useful tags if we can find a way to give them each a clear definition that doesn’t immediately overlap with any other tag, or become overly subjective. I think, perhaps, some visible indication of low intelligence or shallowness might be required for that, and I don’t know how common that is on here.

I guess I changed my mind on the issue when I examined the tag. There are some problems with it:

  • There is no consensus over if a character needs to be a muscular_male or just conventionally pretty.
  • Some characters are tagged as himbo even without any kind of dialogue because of lore reasons or visual archetype (that is the tagger's opinion).
  • A lot is tagged just because the character is a muscular_male or hyper, or displays barazoku. Which is redundant with these tags.
  • Is very hard to find instances of a character being stupid or naïve, which I believe is a prerequisite. himbo naïve give zero results.

Some of the images are being tagged like this less than a day ago. Looks like this tag is deemed to eternal cleaning, so I would prefer to invalidate and use tag combinations to find the stereotypes that the user desires.

Like muscular_male ~naïve ~stupid ~oblivious or any variation of these like with jock or barazoku. The naïve and stupid tags are extremely undertagged tho...

Yeah, I noticed because for whatever reason, the vast majority of the tag's usage is coming from the artist Rickleone who seems to attach it ton every thing NSFW he posts, regardless of whether or not it is appropriate. Which only adds to the confusion as to what qualifies as a Himbo.
