Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: enderdragon -> ender_dragon

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

From what I understand, "Jean?" isn't actually the ender dragon's name, but instead a suggestion made when Notch was asked the question "what's the ender dragon's name?". People latched onto it, though, and it became synonymous with "ender dragon" because there's only one ender dragon in normal gameplay.

So, in essence jean? = ender_dragon, but since we can have fan characters or otherwise have an ender dragon that's not Jean? by TWYK, there's some merit in keeping the tag in case people want to explicitly find Jean?, and not just some "random" ender dragon...

As an implication, stinky

We were keeping them seperate but some jerks keep going around and tagging Jean? on literally ever Ender Dragon image. I really don't think it's worth keeping the tag at this point, it's too much effort to keep it cleaned out.

It's weird to just put it as "some jerks", as if one can't just review post changes, see which names keep popping up, then report the most common offenders (and request tag locks where appropriate).
I reviewed the history for jean? being added to posts and one account did it 120 times because, for all this edit warring and discussion surrounding the tag, nobody bothered to slap some sense into that particular person.

I don’t see much point in keeping the tag on posts only when the artist specifically mentioned the name Jean? in the original post. Those are identical to all the other ender dragons. The only use I could see for the tag would be to identify images meant to be the “original” ender dragon, in order to distinguish them from someone’s random ender dragon OC, which may have its own characteristics or features, if such a character even exists yet. And in that case, basically all of the ender dragon posts should have the tag. If we’re not going to do that, I think it’d be best to just alias Jean? to ender_dragon.

Edit: right, so there are a couple ender dragon OCs. I can’t really tell how they differ visually, if at all, but I don’t suppose that’s very important. But as far as I’m concerned, if the artist does not state that the image is of a specific character as opposed to Jean? or “the ender dragon” (since there’s only one actual ender dragon in Minecraft), it should ideally get the Jean? tag so that you can filter out ender dragon OCs if you wish to do that.

Actually, there are apparently two Ender Dragons from what I've heard? Jean apparently has a brother. You can only actually encounter Jean herself in gameplay though.

Is that canon somewhere?

If that's the case then ender_dragon should probably become a species tag... Unless "Ender Dragon" is a nickname for Jean?, that lives in the End.

In the Minecraft wiki, Ender Dragon refers to the specific character though

I would need to look around for confirmation, but "rumor has it" the official "Ender Dragon" icons are Jean's brother.
