Topic: Resizing images?

Posted under General

So, for the longest time I’ve been saving and uploading all of my content via my phone and I didn’t think much about it… until a few days ago when I realized that an alarming number of the pictures I uploaded across my social media were, for some inexplicable reason, saved in smaller sizes (ex. a 5000x2500 pixel image saving at 2500x1250 pixels). I have most of them saved in their proper image sizes but I’ll be double checking in case I missed any. Is there any way I can change the images on here to their proper sizes without deleting the posts entirely?

Yes. There is a relatively recently implemented feature called Post Replacement, created for this exact purpose.

At the moment, only Admins and Janitors have access to it. You can DM one of them providing the full resolutions.

Hope this answer was useful and thanks for being careful about image quality! You might find the Sites and Sources wiki page useful.

Mind, if you care about having them uploaded under your username, that's not implemented yet. The staff who replaces it will get the upload credit for replacing it.

If I need to resize a picture I usually just google the online editor, the choice is huge, and mostly all for free))) All formats and pixels, you just need to want))

That would be an artificial upscale, which is against the Uploading Guidelines.

Bad things to upload:

  • Low quality submissions:
    • Artificial upscales include anything like "normal" upscaling, waifu2x, neural network upscales, and similar.

The reason is that it may deteriorate image quality.
