Topic: What's with the uptick in chastity wear?

Posted under Art Talk

Noticed a significant increase in chasity belts or locks or similar in the past few weeks. Seems it's happening in the art here as well as IRL images/videos. Any light that can be ahined on this recent uptick?

Trends in porn exist, news at 11. Assuming this is even a real thing and you're not just imagining it - the human brain is very good at mistaking short-term variation for long-term trends, or maybe you've just tricked yourself into noticing them more.

Another possible explanation is that I know some kinksters choose to participate in no_nut_november by spending a month in chastity, so maybe you've been seeing that. You did mention "the past few weeks" and it's nearly the end of November, after all.

If there's one porn trend I really want an explanation for, it's those stupid fucking womb tattoos. I swear those didn't even exist five years ago and now they're everywhere.

It depends on the context. It's usually associated with succubi, and could be a magic mark that indicates a sex slavery contract, a measurement of lust, or impregnation. Or it's just kinky. There's probably 1,000 doujinshi out there about it.

chastity_device date:3_yestermonths_ago <- 210 posts in August
chastity_device date:2_yestermonths_ago <- 221 posts in September
chastity_device date:yestermonth <- 247 posts in October. This might be higher than usual since October is Locktober--a challenge to wear a chastity cage for a month.
chastity_device date:month <- 253 posts in November. This might be higher than usual since November is No Nut November--a challenge not to have an orgasm for a month.

So it seems there's been a ~20% increase recently, possible caused by No Nut November this month and Locktober last month.

EDIT: Though one fairly recent change that is clear is that users have FINALLY learned to tag chastity_device rather than chastity (aliased to chastity_(disambiguation)). Yay!

Like wat8548 said, perceived trends may say more about what you individually have been giving your attention to rather than what's actually going on. But if I had to trust my own perceptions, I'd say the interest in chastity is just part of a broader interest in the community towards submissive centered fantasies that I feel has been growing for years.

I'm not a data person, but shouldn't an average "inflation rate" be accounted for? Like a minimum amount of chastity_device tagged posts we can expect to see added every month? And then the excess would compared against that? For example, let's assume that we can expect an average of 8 chastity_device tagged posts a month (a median between the moderate high of 11 posts in September and the low of 5 posts in November) which would make October's 26 the notable increase. What would the percentage increase be then? (I am not familiar with the math that's needed to calculate this)

that would be a good idea, Mr. Not A Data Person, except for the fact that we're talking about chastity fetishes, not inflation fetishes
