Topic: Feature Idea/request: Favoriting Pools

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

So, it came across my mind earlier that we are unable to favorite pools, but can favorite posts easily. Seems odd doesn't it?

So, I would like to request the ability to favorite pools along with posts please.

that's what sets are for. Functionally identical to pools but are for users and don't show up in the top of a post unless it's a part of the search i.e. idk set:31497
and they have the option of being private. If pools were allowed for personal use it would shart all over the site functionality

...You seem to have misunderstood the post entirely.

Clearly. In the OP the word "favorite" was not used as an adjective "my favorite pool" but as a verb "to favorite/upvote a pool".

oh ya rip I miss read it.

Lol, no worries, I can understand how there could be some confusion. After all, language is hard and communication has its own branches of science and college degrees.

I know there's a few third party tools that do this sort of thing already, but I think it'd be great to actually implement it into the website. Especially for mobile users that can't add browser extensions.

The real question is, how would such a thing be implemented? It can't use the existing favourites system, because pools are quite different to posts. There would likely have to be a whole new database attached to each user for holding lists of pool references.

...And if we're going down that path anyway, it would be a good time to bite the bullet and genericise it so we can finally have pools of pools, like a fair few pools on this site have been crying out for. Maybe it could even be made nestable, so you can have pools of pools of pools?
