Topic: Creating new character tag

Posted under General

Hi, I wish to create a name tag for this post: https://e621.net/posts/3063033
But I don't know how it works and I don't want to erroneously tag someone else's character. Yes It has only one pic for now, but I'm working on getting some more.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my dumbness, but I never tried such thing...

Write the name of your character, and stick "char:" in front of it. e.g.

char:john_doe

If your character doesn't have a unique name, you can add an identifier in parentheses after their name. e.g.

char:john_doe_(thecharacterowner)

If the tag has been made already, go to the tag index, search for the tag you want to edit, then click "Edit" on the line for the tag you're looking for. You'll be taken to a page with a dropdown menu that has all the tag categories; select "Character" from the menu, click "Submit", and the tag should now be a character tag.

Thanks a lot!

Can somebody explain why so many new users appear to be confused by the very concept of an edit button? Like, it's not just that they don't know what tags to add, it simply doesn't occur to them that it might be possible to add tags at all.

The "edit" button isn't in the most obvious location, not everyone has the same Internet literacy level, etc.
