Topic: What is it with sites demonizing negativity?

So many sites (this one included) these days are excessively violent towards negativity. As it's some sort of demon that needs to be exterminated on the spot with no prejudice. Do people really not know what the value of negativity brings to a community? Come the fuck on guys it's been known for millennia that both positivity and negativity must co-exist as an imbalance in either side causes problems. Too much positivity and you regress. Too much negativity and you stagnate. Don't treat negativity like it's some sort of scourge that needs to be insta-banned for "being rude" or "being mean". That's how you poison your own well and drink from it at the same time.

Where are you getting the idea that negativity isn't allowed here? You have to word it properly, but the same goes for positivity.

yeah, why even bother using the site if you can't continuously and disruptively express distaste towards chicks with dicks, even after clear instructions from staff to avoid doing so?

Taking a look at your comments, there’s a distinct difference between critiquing vs unnecessarily complaining on posts solely because it doesn’t fit your interests. You have access to a blacklist, use it.

Negativity itself is fine. The real issue is a lack of respect towards others, which applies to negativity, positivity, and neutrality in equal measure. Griping for the sake of griping is draining for others to listen to and deliberately ruins their own experience on the site. That shows a lack of respect for them.

There is such a thing as time and place. And in general the phrase "don't like it, don't look" applies pretty commonly to life. Especially on the internet and even more so for something subjective like art. No one cares if you don't like something. That's just bitching for the sake of bitching.

Being negative is not inherently valuable or wanted.

Negativity is only relevant in certain contexts. On e621, the uploader often isn't even the artist in question, so it's irrelevant. Not every artist cares for criticism even if it's constructive either. And again, no one needs to know if you don't like something. . If you act like this anywhere, whether in real life or on the internet, you'll be met with negativity.

So close yet so far.

I have never griped because I just wanted to gripe in my entire life. Every single time I have griped it has been deliberate and thought out ahead of time.

I am sensing a strong pattern here. People who have posted one or more gynomorphs (abominations) are very eager to tell me to shut up in various ways... Hmmmm. Almost as if a narrative is being pushed. I suppose only time will tell.

The actual pattern is people posting whiny threads just after they get a record.
"Negativity" in the form of constructive criticism, such as calling out a translation as bad and then explaining why it's bad, is meaningful. An enlightened r*dditor moaning and groaning about a particular fetish is not. There is no great inspirational message that arises from "Blech." There is no great inspirational message that arises from "They're not girls." They're data, they literally don't exist.

Didn't take to long for that mask to come off, did it?

Thoughts and opinions shape the world of the future. You can try to bend yourself around it but it always comes back to haunt you in the end. Not allowing people to voice their distaste in their own way is to close off a door that needs to stay open if we are ever to progress past this.

I don't wear a mask. Joker does. And I guess like, most superheroes but I'm not claiming to be a superhero here. Nor a villain for that matter.

e621 staff won't let me say "eww" at feminine penises. This is just like 1984! I've never read it, but this is what I imagine it's like!
These platitudes are cute and all, but they mean absolutely nothing and don't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny. Progress past what? What future is supposed to be shaped by your comments? You're not actually attempting to defend anything you've said, you're just throwing around ideas about how you think speech should be used. No attempt is being made whatsoever to convince anybody who doesn't already think exactly like you. See this?

Wakey wakey. It's time to wake up and see the world for what it truly is. Hey. Wake up. You're not going to stay asleep forever-well you are eventually but not yet.

There's a reason everybody treats "wake up sheeple" as a punchline. You're not a great political commentator, you're not a revolutionary, you're just an anonymous member who's fuming because he got caught being generally unpleasant, but you won't even own up to that. You're trying to dress it as if you're some kind of unfairly-criticized underdog.
