Its purely subjective, non descriptive and unhelpful. Its also generally kinda rude.
Im not seeing the value in this tag. And if there is value it should be renamed because "Girly" isnt descriptive.

"femboy", I guess?
it's a style or archetype. seems a lot more popular than goths or tomboys, or at least better tagged.
It describes a male character with a more feminine body. In e6 terms, it means a character is male (and is tagged such following the tagging guidelines), but with a body that would otherwise indicate female. For example, post #3093116 is tagged male because he has clearly visible balls with no breasts or pussy. But if the balls weren't visible, the body type, facial structure, and hair would indicate female being the more appropriate tag for the character. That's what the tag is supposed to be for.
I still advocate for the girly tag to be done away with in place of feminine and masculine to be unisex and better descriptors

femboys, feminine men, crossdressing, males with makeup, etc. No brainer.

Girly is useful because it's specifically not unisex. A male that looks feminine is something a lot of people like, so it's useful for searching for characters like that. Replacing a male-only girly tag with a unisex feminine tag would make that impossible since 99% of female posts here would be feminine, and having a non-feminine male in the picture also would create a false positive. The only way something like that could work is if feminine isn't applied to characters of a typically feminine sex (e.g. female+feminine not being valid), but that's not exactly unisex and basically makes it what girly already is.
That said, I'd be for renaming girly to feminine, as long as its definition remains largely intact (along with having masculine act as its opposite).

The problem is they're both male type character specific. Female type characters deserve these types of descriptors as well and tomboy doesn't count as it's a personality not physiological

I can agree that's an issue, as in its current state, masculine wouldn't be the opposite of feminine/girly. I'd totally support changing masculine to mean a character of a typically-non-masculine sex having a masculine body type (e.g. female+masculine would be valid, but male+masculine would not be). That's basically what I meant with "having masculine act as its opposite". Simply alias girly->feminine, leaving its definition more or less as it is, and (less simply) redefine masculine to be as described, and I'd be content with that.

see, now here is a middle ground on the matter we can both agree on
Wouldn't be opposed to changing it to feminine_male to match up to a masculine_female tag.
Would any posts under girly andromorph still apply, if the tag name's changed?

Eh, personally I think a girly andromorph (that's truly girly) should qualify as a flat_chested female. It really feels like flat_chested is unfairly hamstrung with such characters being made andromorph instead.
half the problem is people using girly and crossdressing like it means the same thing, am I the only one who's noticed that across various posts?

mostly agree, depends on the torso build and hips, I think.

I mean the two tags highly correlate together don't they?but there have been crossdressing posts where the girly tag haven't used like crossdressing -girly
or i missed the point and you're saying that there have been mistagged posts that happened, sorry
yeah, i sometimes notice that

While the tag is a little more subjective than most tags, I think it's valid, and it'd be quite hard to find the same results using any other combination of tags. It's also a very popular tag and removing it would probably cause a riot. I wouldn't mind renaming it but I also feel like that could be more hassle than it's worth.

It looks like a lot of these posts should also be tagged with girly but I'm seeing one or two things that fit crossdressing -girly.

that's what I was getting at. A lot of people skip one tag in favor of the other, pretty sure it also follows suit with -crossdressing girly
Many tags are subjective, but girly seems to have a consensus on girly means a male character having a feminine face, or with a feminine figure.
I don't think we need a masculine tag, since that would be harder to define.
