Reason: The former is a less used version of the latter.

This should probably be reversed since the site's tendency is to alias cock to penis.

I thought of that too, but "penis slap" sounds like it could refer to a penis being slapped, whereas "cockslap" is a well-known term for a cock doing the slapping.

I agree, shouldn't there be a differentiation between slapping someone with a cock and having one's own cock slapped?

Correct. Looks like this was dealt with 3 months ago in topic #30235. cockslap is for "slapping with a penis"; penis_slap appears to be for "slapping a penis". penis_slap appears to be very undertagged, though.

Yeah, the former seems kind of ambiguous. If we want to go with 'penis', then maybe slapped_by_penis instead? ...penis_slapped?

Maybe we can just keep a couple of cock exceptions despite the naming standard.

I say that if face_fucking is an acceptable tag, then so is this.

I was going to suggest the opposite, have the latter be slapping_penis or something to clearly show that it's meant for the action.

Agree with strikerman; I propose slapping_penis for "slapping a penis" and penis_slap for "slapping with a penis". We could then alias cockslap and dickslap to penis_slap (as Watsit points out, it is used elsewhere to refer to penis_slap). autocockslap will also need to be unimplicated and mass updated/alias to autopenis_slap, then implicate autopenis_slap -> penis_slap.

As is, cockslap and penis_slap are ambiguously named and seem ripe for mistagging by people who prefer one term over the other (i.e. OP, who I guess assumed correctly that penis is the preferred term on e621).

A change definitely is needed.

The names of penis_slap and ball_slap follow the convention of tags such as butt_slap, breast_slap and belly_slap. They also have slapping_own_penis/slapping_own_balls implied to them. This implies the tags are meant to be used as [bodypart]_being_slapped

However their wikis state that the tags are meant to be used when it is the body parts doing the slapping, and that's what the majority of the posts under the tags use it for.

My proposal is:

penis/ball_slap have slapping_own_balls/penis unimplied from them

alias penis/ball_slap to slapped_by_penis/balls

Use slapping_penis/balls for when the penis/balls are getting slapped.

Reason: This needs to go since cockslap means being slapped by a penis. I disagree with aliasing to this slightly ambiguous name, but it's better than what it was originally.

What tag are we going to use for slapping a penis then? Since penis_slap is aliased it won't follow the convention of *_slap

I believe if a user were to use any of the aliased tags above, they are more likely to be searching for a penis being slapped rather than a penis doing the slapping.
But this raises the question on what the tag for it should be named, and penis_slap certainly won't be it given how close it is to cockslap. However that'll mean deviating from the convention (ball slap (wait this suffers from the same issue), butt slap, belly_slap, etc (actually, looking at slap, there's not much of a convention))

Legitimising autocockslap and endowing it with implications

Unsure if it would be smart to unalias penis/cock/dick_slapping from cockslap

I don't think penis_spank is any better than slapping_penis. "Spank" typically means slapping a butt (with the hand or something else), so "penis_spank" sounds like it means a penis slapping a butt, rather than the penis being slapped with something.
