Topic: alt variants and parents

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

If an alt has other versions of itself (like having a clothed version and nude version), should those two have their own parent-child relationship, or should it all be under the main post?

More specifically, here is the parent post with all it's variants already linked.

The two alts in question are the female one w/clothing & without.

I couldn't find anything definitive about this when I looked, so I just put everything under the main post.

Preferably we want to reduce the amount of parent/child chaining as possible.
For a non-ideal example, Post A is parent to Post B, which in turn is parent to Post C, and so on (i.e., A -> B -> C...).

So in the case of having a clothed version plus the alts (unclothed, messy, etc.) for them, it would be best to link everything back to one main post (i.e., A -> B, C, D, ...).

Some people also link it where the unclothed version is the only post linked back to the clothed version, while the alts are linked back to the first post in the series (i.e., Clothed A -> Unclothed B; Clothed A -> Clothed Alt C, ...; Unclothed B -> Unclothed Alt D, ...).

Additionally, if you want to take a step further, you can include hyperlinks in every alt's post description to help people navigate between the different variations. You can see the example I did with post #1891315.

I hope that it not too confusing to visualise.
