Topic: Pokemon Nuzlocke Challenge Experiences/Stories

Posted under Off Topic

I'll start.
As with anyone bored during the pandemic, I started my first Pokemon Nuzlocke in October 2021 on Pokemon Shield. I watched a lot of Nuzlocke playthrough videos, so I am familiar with the basic rules.
I attempted a Nuzlocke several times before I succeeded beyond Alister's ghost-type gym because I'm bad at strategizing. After that roadblock, I was pretty good for the most part. Needless to say, like most players, I grew very attached to my party members, especially my Toxtricity that I nicknamed Sludge (because it's my favourite Pokemon of all time). I also used the camping feature to grow more attached to my party (but also for healing my party). My most emotional moment was after Raihan's gym fight. During it, I lost three of my team members including Sludge to a super-effective psychic move. I pushed the loss aside until I beat Raihan with my Toxicroak and Garbador named Brett and Patricia respectively. After the fight, my heart sank. I knew the rules, I had to let Sludge go. The time had come. I opened up my PokeBox and released my other two party members. I left the courser hover over the "Are you sure you want to release Sludge?" button for a good minute before I gained the courage to press "yes". I pushed it. "Bye-bye, Sludge!" I cried for a good 5 minutes. I cared and raised Sludge since she was a wee-little level 1 Toxel from the daycare centre on Route 5. That experience meant I had to take extra care for Brett and Patricia, who were my strongest team members at that point.
I finally beat Leon and my Nuzlocke on December 30, 2021.
