Topic: [APPROVED] Tag implication: beach_umbrella -> parasol

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag implication #43297 beach_umbrella -> parasol has been approved.

Reason: beach_umbrella says "A large umbrella/parasol generally used to provide shade at the beach. ..." (with example image)

parasol wiki says "similar in shape and general design to an umbrella, although the main comparison between to the two is that a parasol is designed to protect from the sun ..."

Sounds to me like beach_umbrella is a type of parasol.

(by the way: i think i might edit parasol wiki changing that "comparison" to "difference")

EDIT: The tag implication beach_umbrella -> parasol (forum #325889) has been approved by @slyroon.

Is there an actual difference between the two?
It seems to me like an alias could also be appropriate.

Wiktionary treats them as synonymous, but I would argue that beach umbrellas should qualify as a particular type of parasol. Parasols themselves can range from small, handheld ones to big ones that are used to provide shade at the beach and are too big to easily carry one-handed, but when we think of beach umbrellas (or beach parasols), we think of those latter ones rather than any handheld ones. Thus, I'd argue for an implication.
