The tag implication #43375 sega -> video_games has been rejected.

Reason: Apparently, unlike Nintendo, Sega doesn't imply video_games. There was a tag implication set up by the former staff member ImpidiDinkaDoo, but the implication got deleted for some reason. There is no forum for this implication, so I don't know why the implication got deleted. Perhaps, the argument is that Sega existed before the company made video games, but Nintendo started out by making playing cards yet still implies video_games! I don't get what's going on, so I'm requesting that the implication either be instated or for some kind of reasonable explanation as to why instating the implication isn't a good idea. If instating the implication isn't a good idea, maybe have sonic_the_hedgehog_(series) among other video game properties of Sega imply video_games instead.

Nintendo and Sega are big companies that produce and publish non-video-game content too. There was another company that recently got de-implicated from video_games after it was shown they don't just do video games, so regardless of the video_games tag itself, big companies like Nintendo and Sega are a bit outside of the exclusively-video_games front since they do other things sometimes too.

Beyond that, it's unlikely something would be tagged just Sega or Nintendo. It'll have some character or IP or thing tagged with it that implicates Sega or Nintendo, and that thing is what may or may not be video_games related.

IIRC, it was that tag specifically that got Sega deimplicated from video_games, since the Sonic series also spans comics and cartoons which have unique characters that never appeared in any video game. e.g. Sally Acorn is a character that first appeared in the SatAM Sonic cartoon and later the comics (or maybe vice versa), but has never been in the video games. So implicating sally_acorn -> sonic_the_hedgehog_(series) would be correct since she's a canon part of the Sonic series, but implicating sonic_the_hedgehog_(series) -> video_games would cause an incorrect tag on images of just her (or her with other non-game characters) since she's not from a video game.
