Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: reptile_penis -> animal_penis

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #56630 reptile_penis -> animal_penis has been rejected.

Reason: would be more useful and reptile penis are more than one penis like tapering_penis and hemipenis(are not exclusive to the reptile species). based on that, I think it's better to call it animal_penis.

EDIT: The tag alias reptile_penis -> animal_penis (forum #327629) has been rejected by @slyroon.

Could just have hemipenis and others imply reptile_penis, which in turn implies animal_penis, I guess.

But tapering_penis applies to a lot of non-reptilian animals so I feel like it may be pretty pointless if the only one is hemipenis.

but sharks also have hemipenis

Please note that, opposed to common belief, sharks do not have hemipenes in real life - they have claspers.

From the wiki page.

turtle_penis and crocodilian_penis also appear to be valid tags that could imply it.

wow, does crocodile have a penis of its own? so i think it would be better to implicated

animal_penis > reptile_penis

reptile_penis > crocodile_penis

reptile_penis > turtle_penis

there are only two, I don't know if it's worth it.

animal_penis > reptile_penis

reptile_penis > crocodile_penis

reptile_penis > turtle_penis

You forgot hemipenes, which are only naturally found on squamata - essentially, snakes, lizards, and amphisbaenians - and tuatara, which are also reptiles. Besides that, there aren’t really any prominent reptiles besides crocodilians and turtles (which already have their own tags) and the many extinct reptiles, whose genitalia are largely unknown to us. Birds are technically reptiles (taxonomically), but we don’t consider them as such for the purposes of tagging, so they can be left out.

okay, so basically outside of things that make sense such as genius tagging where things follow a format such as equid, canid, felid ect. Tagging something with just reptile penis is about as vague as if we tagged something "mammal penis" I agree, alias it to animal penis.

If not being kept it should be invalidated imo - aliasing to animal_penis will result in something even more vague being applied to posts where an invalid tag could be replaced with something that's actually more applicable like hemipenes, tapering_penis, turtle_penis, etc.

how would it be more vague? If someone thinks something looks like a "reptile penis" surely it would fit for animal?

but some sharks also have hemipenis, it's not a penis exclusive to lizards

They have claspers, not hemipenes. If a shark anthro here has a hemipenis it's not biologically accurate.
