I've always been a fan of swiss cheese, especially when it's melted over a hot hamburger with mushrooms and a gravy
Brie!
Balkan cheese! Especially in Shopska salad, though I make an my own improved and less authentic version of that salad.
Either blue cheese or very sharp New York cheddar
Havarti, manchego, and brie.
Swiss works on a burger. Still don't understand why McDonald's got rid of their Angus 1/3 pounders. I especially liked the Bacon & Swiss. Not even sure they have Swiss as a cheese anymore.
American Cheese (I know it's not real cheese) for grilled cheese sandwiches. You need something that melts. And it tastes good.
Provolone Cheese for subs and sandwiches
Mozzarella Cheese for Pizza
Grated Parmesan Cheese for topping Italian dishes/noodles
I feel like every cheese has its place
I really like Muenster cheese. Goes great with chicken patties.

American on burgers only, but my favorite all around cheese is provolone

I agree those angus 1/3 pounders were my favorite. I was so mad when they got rid of those!
Also, American cheese is actually real cheese. It's usually a mix of cheddar, colby, and swiss. It's just highly processed, and usually low quality (especially if you get those disgusting Kraft singles, no offense if you like them)
Colby jack, cheddar, and smoked gouda. Provolone as an honorable mention

I like pepper, jalepeño, & habañero jack.
But mostly because they're spicy, & I like spicy things by default.
Otherwise I like snacking cheeses, like Babybel wheels & cheese cubes. The type of cheese doesn't really matter.
I'm not much of a cheese person. I can't just put it on any food. I actually hate sharp cheese. In other words I don't like strong cheese. My favorite cheese is mozzarella. I put Italian Style on my pizzas though which contains Asiago, Pecorino Romano, Fontina, Mozzarella, Provologne and I think Parmesan.
Butterkäse (German butter cheese) and Wunderbar (German brick cheese).
Havarti and Gouda are also up there as well.

mozzarella, it's commonly used for stuff like fried cheese sticks (which fittingly are named mozzarella sticks) and pizza, it's very salty, creamy, gooey, and delicious. White queso is a very close second, like mozzarella, it's salty and creamy but also a little spicy. Both overall are very good cheeses.

Mine is a type of sharp white Irish cheddar cheese that’s grass-fed, no hormones, and generally just has no garbage in it.

A nice ripe brie with a touch of ammonia on a good baguette is heaven. I'm also fond of an extra sharp, crystalized white cheddar.

But admittedly, for personal reasons I do have a soft spot for American (blasphemy, I know)-- when I was a kid I used to eat it by itself whenever I got really nervous. And as someone with a lifelong generalized anxiety disorder...
