Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: vtuber -> virtual_youtuber

It's difficult for me to imagine a less necessary alias.

The main tag is the latter but it's common for people to refer to them as vtubers. How is that unnecessary?

Definitely a necessary alias, vtuber has currently been tagged 89 times.

I'm a little conflicted which way around I want it though, "virtual YouTuber" would be the full name but people usually just say "VTuber"

EDIT: Wikipedia uses VTuber (discussion) and it made me aware I overlooked the fact that not all VTubers use YouTube and could just stream on Twitch, so they're not YouTubers. I have a strong preference for reversing to aliasing virtual_youtuber to vtuber now.

Updated

vtubers aren't all on youtube, making "youtuber" incorrect for those people, so the reverse would be more appropriate.

Throwing a -1 here because it's already been requested via BURs that are still pending.

Personally, I agree with Watsit's logic.

29201 also requests to the youtuber incorrect tag, but has a bunch of the actual vtubers. 33051 claims to be a duplicate but that's because River requested the BUR twice and rejected one (deleting the thread while he was at it, please never do that) and never editing the leftover one to get rid of the duplicate text.

Why not delete an accidental duplicate BUR thread after rejecting the BUR, so I know for the future?

That same text was present on the original too, I assumed due to the existing hololive -> virtual_youtuber implication.

You can only hide threads, not delete them. And when the thread has tag or alias requests, they remain pending after you hide it, making it harder for us to find requests that may be causing problems (and since we can't see it, we have no idea what discussions may have taken place in the thread). Hiding the thread doesn't make anything better, and just causes problems.

I know about that, but it isn't pending. I rejected the duplicate BUR before hiding the associated thread.
