I changed it, and retagged one mlp pic to sakuyamon_(artist).
But, if I remember correctly, members can also change type of tags (if there were just few pics with them) by typing species:sakuyamon in any edit form under the picture.

You can change categories using these (shorthand form in parentheses):

Every now and then it doesn't let me change them but 99% of the time they move just fine. I happen to remember an "over 100 posts" rule, but that could have just been a suggestion. I think I've only seen it reject my change maybe 3 times before. It's possible that it just argues less if it is a general tag, but that's just my guess.

No, there's definitely some kind of 100 post limitation in effect. I assume it's to prevent people vandalizing popular tags, but it can be annoying on those rare occasions where you have to change a few around.

There is limitation, but reason is different. If nothing has changed since I remember then changing type of tags that have a lot of pics tagged with them crashes the site for some time.

That's...a pretty good reason. I know they have more servers than they used to so it's probably less than in the past, but even accessing tag history pages has always been at least somewhat slow (regardless of server load). So I can definitely see how accidently/intentionally changing mammal to a copyright tag could easily tie up the servers for a while.

Only mods and above can change tag types with over 100 tags on them, primarily for vandalism reasons but also somewhat for performance reasons.
