Topic: [APPROVED] Tag implication: aeldari -> elf

Can you provide more information on this? Vulcans can be described as "Space elves", but to imply them would be in the wrong.

Warhammer has several standard fantasy races under different names for copyright reasons. See also: orks/orcs, squats/dwarves, ratlings/halflings.
Aeldari are tall, pointy-eared, arrogant, and live for thousands of years; they are intentionally made to fulfill the "elf" spot of generic fantasy races. Old models straight-up had "space elves" on the packaging. Since there's a light/dark elf trope mentioned on the wiki page for the elf tag: there's also Drukhari/Dark Eldar, which are Aeldari But (more) Evil. The name was changed from "Eldar" to "Aeldari" for copyright reasons I think, because elves in LOTR are also called Eldar.

Hm. That's really tough. They were made to represent them but not actually be them, so they could be argued to be left apart; this was because of copyright reasons however and they legit just look like them in spacesuits and modern/futuristic armors and could be argued to alias to the result. The argument to keep them but imply them seems kind of weak to me.

The reason to keep it would be that it also implies warhammer_40000. If there’s anything present in the image tying them to the series in any way, you can identify it as Aeldari and not just any old elf, and therefore specifically Warhammer content.

Also, as far as them actually being elves: the entire concept behind Warhammer 40k is essentially “basic high fantasy world, but in the distant future” - hence the magic and fantasy races alongside laser guns and space ships. That’s why the same argument wouldn’t apply to Vulcans.
