Topic: Should jumpscare be a meta/artist tag like sound warning?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

At the moment, jumpscare is a general tag and also includes several static images with a character performing a jumpscare, without really being scary. However, it's also included on plenty of animated posts that do have legitimate jumpscares, with something leaping at the viewer and usually with a loud sound. Would it be helpful if the tag was retooled so that it was only used for the latter startling-to-the-viewer posts? Therefore it'd get marked as an artist tag and get placed at the top of the tags. Could be thought of almost like a powerful version of sound_warning, although I wouldn't call them synonyms (jumpscare animated -sound gives a decent number of hits). It's a very underused tag, sure, but maybe there'd still be value in labelling it?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Definitely seems like something there should be a warning about, and having it in the same place as sound_warning for better visibility would be a good thing.

As for the name, perhaps jumpscare_warning could be used to differentiate it from static depictions of a jumpscare, and more clearly indicate it's a content warning.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, and in fact, I feel it could be improved just a little more. Seeing as somethings can be an audible only jumpscare (ear-rape comes to mind), what if instead of 1 tag (sorry admins in advance), we had 2, or perhaps 3?

And for those that aren't 100 sure if it's classified as a jumpscare or not; Potential_jumpscare (though reading it, that sounds way dumber than I thought.) Still, just thinking out loud.
