Topic: Raising aglet awareness

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

An aglet is the little plastic thing on the end of a shoelace to keep the string together. Unfortunantly, I noticed that hardly any posts that are tagged with shoelaces are tagged with aglet, and further that some of those posts that include shoelaces do not have visible shoelaces. We as a community must correct this! Help properly tag posts with shoes!
I will not be turned off again by noticing that someone's shoes have aglets drawn and yet the tag is not included.

The furry & shoe appreciation communities do have quite a bit of overlap, eh? You people should commit to an oath, the rest of us have too many post-it notes already ^^

Anyway... the wiki page for shoelaces could probably use a mention of the aglet as an addition (with somebody beating us to its own wiki page, thank you to that user) for those who do check it for tagging.
Aglet would always imply shoelaces, yes? We don't plan on cutting them off and observing with scrutiny or going to the aglet factory?

Not nessescarrely since, as stated on the (brief but informative) aglet wiki page, it is "The plastic thingy at the end if laces/drawstrings." Aglet thus implies lace or drawstring, which shoelace is a poorly defined variety of lace that we know is located on shoes.

Thus aglet should imply lace by virtue of implying shoelace. Unfortunately, the wiki page for lace belongs to a pattern meaning that this would also be wrong. However, under the wiki page for lace is a warning to not confuse "lace" with "drawstring" which apparently specifies that "Shoelaces are also a type of drawstring, but probably shouldn't be tagged as one." So yes, I suppose aglet would, in most cases where the shoelaces are found on shoes rather than other articles of clothing, imply shoelace, but that exception is too big to ignore.

Updated

Thinking more and more on this, it just becomes a whole "tag clothing as seen" thing, where you apply the rules for tagging gender to tagging clothing and that's a whole set of rabbit holes within rabbit holes.

A drawstring is not a drawstring IF it's on shoes, and yet many posts tagged "shoelace" have a lack of shoes to have laces or laces on shoes, so there either are no laces, or they aren't on shoes.

For instance, post:3260865. How does one tag the lace the character is wearing, if it is indeed lace and not skin or hair or smth? Is it tagged as "string" or just with "clothing_cord" (which doesn't even have an actual wiki page) or as "hair_accessory" despite the character's clear lack of hair? Wait that would be... racist? It should be tagged "hair_accessory" since the character's frills resemble hair.

There's just too much not defined about clothing and accessories in the wiki. I should start a project to write proper wiki articles and call it "Tag Clothing Properly" or smth, I had something better but forgot it midway through typing this bit.
