I would prefer an implication really and have teen aliased to teenager or vice versa

Young be the umbrella term and have cub and teen as two sections

I'd be up for having it separated and having young as an umbrella tag, I just suggested it in this way since teen was already aliased to young for whatever reason.

I can see people searching teen and not wanting children and toddlers in the search results, so it does make sense to be its own tag.

Wholeheartedly behind that. Always disliked them being mixed together.

Cub and teen as separate tags, and both implicated to young?
That seems like a good idea, and I think they'd be easier to tag. The current split between cub, child and young tags never made much sense to me.

It'd require a lot of work to actually tag all those teenagers, but I think it'd be worth it.

I agree. We need to seperate the teen stuff from the young/cub stuff. Just last night I searched for 'teen' and all that popped up was cub pictures.

Would it be possible to make "teenager --> underaged" as well as "young --> underaged?" For the folks who don't get their jollies stumbling past either?

errr...? that's what young is becoming. Read the thread.

Bumping. Because this was never put into action, despite everyone seemingly agreeing about it.

To summarize the proposal:
Cub is only tagged for very young characters, and teen for ones that are older but still underage. Both implicate young.

I still think it'd be an useful split. I'm sure that there's users who'd like to blacklist cubs without blacklisting teens. What do the rest of you think?

I thought that it was supposed to be like this:

cub -> anthro or feral young character.

baby, child, teen tags are for dividing young characters by age no matter whether they are humans, ferals, anthros, animal ears, taurs, monsters, or other things.

+1 for the idea but "not it" for going through them.

This seems like it might have some stumbling blocks, but nothing we can't overcome (particularly since the recent "no entirely not furry" policy). Should make that easier at least.

I see this:

I thought child was more of a comparison to parent than an age-specific tag? Either way, added baby to the above tree.

I'd prefer something like that, but teen is currently aliased away to young. Which covers everything from babies to barely underage. So there's no way to exclude young children from searches without also excluding teenagers.

Child is just a generic age category, whereas daughter and son are tagged when the parent is present. Though now that I think about it, what would intersex children be tagged as...

Hrm. This tag group is messier than I thought..

Theoretically -child -baby should not exclude teenagers, but in practice many people (including me) forget to tag anything other than young and cub.

About year ago I suggested aliasing child to young, and it was rejected. I've just posted in forum #68815 reason why - it states that child is not for comparison to parent. Of course things might have changed since this was year ago.

Ok, so far I have UN-aliased teen/teenager with ---//--> young . I then aliased teen to --> teenager and implicated teenager to --> young.

That should make to easier to tackle sorting out the rest of this tag group, to at least have that part out of the way and done. It sounds like several of the other tags are still being discussed, so let me know when you come up with a full plan and if anything else needs doing.

Excellent. Being able to filter out teenagers will be useful in tagging the missing shota/loli, among other things.

Since I'm the one who brought it up, I suppose I'll take a look at tagging those. Ain't going to enjoy it much, but... "You gotta do what you gotta do."
