Topic: No Category/All Categories Pool Request

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

So i dunno if this is just a me problem or not, but pools are seperated into 2 categories right? Collections and Series. And the default in the search option is No Category or Blank

My problem is that, blank is essentially just series only again (atleast to me), and that made me, and probably other people too, miss stuff they might wanted to see for not knowing the seperation. I'm requesting for No category to function similarly to something like All categories, where both Series and Collections are shown, and if that might not be wanted, default could be series but there be an All categories option.

This is ofcourse, Unless i'm missing somwthing about the search options in the pool listing.

That's generally how other searches are done. e.g. A tag search has the Category blank by default, which results in searching all categories. If a pool search doesn't behave the same way, with blank being interpreted as all/any, that should be fixed, IMO.

So... It is an oversight? Maybe? (bump)

I tried the following:

  • search 'what' with blank category, 94 results
  • search 'what' with 'Series' category, 91 results
  • search 'what' with 'Collection' category, 3 results

AFAICS this matches the behaviour of other kinds of search, and the math checks out.

I gather that per OP, you would expect the first and second searches i list above to both return 91 results?
If you can verify this behaviour then it would be a bug which only occurs on a particular browser.

Allright, i suppose i should add 1 more clarification. I don't have any other search options on the search other than the category.

So for example, it'd be blank everything and the results would be the same as blank everything EXCEPT category:series.

Basically, i dunno why, but the absolute default seems to just be series only, and hides collections.

The blank category DOES seem to work when i input any other additional search option where it shows Both collections and series.

And lastly, i'm using opera mobile. If that helps with anything.

Pool landing page is defaulted to Series when ideally it should show both Series and Collections unless either is specified. I brought this up in private a while ago but never got any response about it.

There is a "any" category but you can't select it, requires manually editing the URL to change the "series" or "collection" to "any" (example)

While it's a decent workaround for now, it should instead show any category by default for parity with the regular listing page and just being common sense of what the end user would be expecting...
