i tried to make a suggestion that was “open :3 -> :3” but it says i can’t have a colon at the beginning of a tag, despite :3 being a normal tag that’s used quite often. how do i get around this?

Your request is being blocked by the Tag Name Validator

The restriction to allowed tag naming patterns was added because of technical reasons.

Tags that begin with a colon can no longer be created, and the old ones have to be renamed, but there's a backlog of requests to go through and nobody has gotten around to it yet.

With the issue of tags starting with : unable to be involved in AIBURs still persisting, how will this issue get cleaned up? We can't alias them away, and the tags are growing ever more numerous
