Topic: Question regarding blacklist functionality.

Posted under General

Hello, I'm sorry if this is off-topic or doesn't follow some expected format. I'm not a frequent forum user. I did look around for some time though trying to find some formatting rules. I wasn't entirely sure if this should be labelled as general or feature request either.

Anyways, regarding my question. The reason I ask is that I have a blacklist that I often disable such as when I'm browsing specific artists works but keep enabled when doing general searches. However, there are a few tags that I never want to disable, and 30 tags that I mostly want to disable but sometimes want enabled. I know that there's currently some manual workarounds such as adding "-tag" to the query after disabling the blacklist, or pressing the - button under the blacklist category under the search bar (which has to be repeated on each page). This however runs into problems with the limitations on how many tags can be included in a search. Having a specific secondary blacklist that can't be disabled unless a tag is manually removed from it would result in a much smoother experience for people that like to enable/disable their normal blacklist frequently.

So, a blacklist as it exists now and and a hard personal banlist that works independently of the blacklist which can't be disabled.

Does this exist already and if not, can I semi-easily achieve the same result with a user script or something similar?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Or having different named blacklist categories that can all be disabled independently. So #Blacklist 1: Tag 1, Tag 2. Blacklist 2: Tag 3, Tag 4. Which would then show up as Blacklist 1 and Blacklist 2 on the left hand panel during searches and that you could disable/enable individually.

I don't think there's a function like what you're asking for, but you can add multiple tags on the same line in your blacklist to make it more efficient - for example, you could add "-artistnamehere" on the same line as a tag you normally turn off while browsing that artist, and your searches won't filter out that tag if it's on a post by the artist(s).

I’ve been wondering why the black list disable isn’t just a straight checkbox-like enable/disable all. It only ever seems to remember your toggled items on your list until you reload the page unless you disable/enable it entirely.
