We probably should edit the wiki pages to better explain this ruling.

yeah, a wiki page would've made it easoer to understand the reasoning behind

Okay I fixed up some of the aliases that were causing issues with this.

What does everyone think of maybe implicating princess_twilight_sparkle_(mlp) with twilight_sparkle_(mlp)?

Also I know what everyone is thinking, "but at that point why not just use twilight_sparkle_(mlp) winged_unicorn?"

That's a good point, but she is very often with the other winged unicorns, so you'd have to start negating each one. That's a pain. Worse yet, if you are searching for a post with wingless Twilight among any winged unicorn, you are SOL really. I know plenty of fans that aren't fond of the winged version of her, so I think this would be the best way to handle it.

Thoughts?

+1 for implication

Individual character forms are generally given their own tags. Having princess_twilight_sparkle_(mlp) imply twilight_sparkle_(mlp) would be against the precedent set by everything else, like link_(wolf_form) not implicating link, or toy_chica_(fnaf) not implicating chica_(fnaf). Unless the non-princess form is given a separate tag that people would use, but I doubt people would use it that way.

with characters that are extremely similar to the base version and users are likely to have both show up in one search (which is very much the case here) I don't see the problem having the alternate version of the character imply the base. the examples you give are really not great because how far off those versions of the characters are from other versions, like, there's no way you'd even know that Wolf Link was Link without knowing about Twilight Princess; other than having an earring there's no design ideas shared between the two.

hey, wait. when did this alias go through? I thought we all agreed that the tags were fine.
