Topic: Underage friend browsing e621

Posted under Off Topic

This topic has been locked.

I've seen a friend (who is 15) browsing e621, but he doesn't have an account on here it seems, and I've already had a conversation with him about how he shouldn't be on this site at all, there is adult content here, it's illegal, etc.

I'll let an admin know if he registers on this site so he can get banned.

I've seen him on this site before but I thought he was on e926 (which was not blocked by our schools wifi) but I guess I was wrong.

You admitted two days ago you are 18 (forum #134220) and you joined this site and start commenting on explicit pics on Feb 2013, so how old were you when you joined?

Be very careful of what you post out here...

I was underage when I joined, if that's what you are asking

You seriously lecture your friends on what sites they should be going to?

If they are on a porn site, and they are underage, then do you think I'm just gonna sit there and let it happen?

Thank you for your dedication to the site, and wanting to protect us from any potential legal issues :)

Let's not discourage our fellow users from wanting to protect e621 from those whose actions would hurt it.

Uhhh, yeah?

It's just some porn, man, you're acting as if this is equal to if he were slamming down bottles of hard liquor at age 15. What are you, his mom?

Would be different if he were like 8 or something, but the dude's way into puberty, means he's probably fapping twice a day and must've seen tits and dicks before by now. It's a natural urge which I bet you've experienced too, else you wouldn't be here. So get off that moral high horse, it isn't like you even could save his innocence anymore. Not that there's any reason to.

Oh, and you yourself joined before you were 18. That makes this a bit hypocritical too, wouldn't you agree?

Not saying he should register, cause then you get into legal territories where theoretically the staff could be held responsible for allowing underage users. But if he wants to take a look there's really no stopping him, and trying to seems a tad ridiculous unless you're somehow only able to function if you live strictly by letter of the law.

"Buh... buh itz illegulz!" :O

How the hell do you let someone 'see you browsing e621'.

I think he knows he's naughty and needs a spanking, and that you should be the one to deliver said spanking.

Let's just clarify this for a second. You made an entire forum post about keeping a kid who's not of legal age now from registering on the site. But you a couple posts later talk about how you DID THE SAME THING.

Hahahaha, why would you care? By the time a boy turns 13 he is going to do anything he can to get a hold of some porn. There isn't much point in hindering him, he is going to find and view this stuff anyways. Unless his parents are real strict and harsh bastards (which I imagine a very large amount are) you aren't going to be able to stop him, and there isn't much of a point in trying. Doing so is just going to get you a frustrated and angry teenager.

From my time on the internet, I've come to learn that 97% of the time, the people going on witch hunts to find underage users are in fact, underage.

are you really trying to tell a 15 years old kid to stop looking at porn because its illegal, not that you are doing something wrong but like imagine someone saying "stop looking at porn, its illegal" at 15 years old you.

Updated by anonymous

This idea is such psychology fail, honestly. You think acting like looking at E6 in school is inappropriate is going to make E6 seem less interesting or less worth looking at, even at school? To a teenager?

You're practically promoting E621 by doing that, just with a subtext of 'But don't let anyone catch you'.

Which I guess is fine from the point of view of E621 CYA stuff, but doesn't seem to be your intended outcome.

The administration can look at what you're looking at anytime they want if you're using school WIFI. If he gets caught, he's going to have a hell of a lot of explaining to do.

But unless he makes an account, there's nothing that the admins can do about it.

Updated by anonymous

First of all, for the people replying here, remember that telling somebody is acceptable do something illegal, even if you feel is OK to do it, is simply putting the entire site at risk.

And btw, unless he makes an account, there's nothing that the admins can do about it. I don't think he will register himself anytime soon if he comes here for the posts anyway.

As for AmericanExistence, the best way to do this is to talk to him if you really consider him a friend. But I feel that you are simply trying to throw somebody under the bus because your parents found out that you were in here. There is no other reason to post it here, you could have directly contacted the admins. I was a little bit angry of the situation and that's why I pointed out your age when you registered.

Whatever you like to hear it or not, what you doing is very unhealthy. I feel that you are not doing this for too keep him safe from porn but for you to feel better because somebody else will get caught as well.

Prove me wrong and go talk to him again. If he is visiting this site, he could be alone, confuse and scare to tell some of his families and friends and he could also be mocked by others. Become the better man.

;)

Why is porn illegal to be viewed by underaged people anyway? I mean, I get that MAKING porn of underaged people is illegal, it's downright horrifying too probably, but why viewing? It's not like they're trying to stop kids from masturbating. I have an odd feeling a religion is responsible for this, even though i an quite sure I'm wrong. Maybe influnced it, but not that much.
Anyway, i got off topic.
I don't feel like you should get your friend in trouble like that, and if you do, you'll be hated by that kid forever. BUT, it IS the law, so you must, am i right?
Do what you must, or what you choose. Free will in this decision. Anger and this justice, or compassion and illegal acts.

The christian church firmly believes that sex should only be for procreation, not for fun, and that masturbation is bad as well.
Basically, everything that feels good is the doing of the devil and needs to be avoided or hell awaits.

Of course, things like that need to be part of the laws in a country, because fuck the separation of state and church.

(There is a bit talk about the influence of pornography on the development of a "child" (teenagers aren't childs anymore) but I'm pretty certain most of that is badly executed studies)

Well, like NotMe said, it does stem from the Christian faith originally (which in my opinion has practices that have no place in modern society), and yeah, there were and are a few studies on how porn affects young people, not just little kids.

Apparently, the (disputed) idea is that if a child (or an impressionable teenager for that matter) looks at porn a lot, they'll get the idea(s) that they are owed sex, or the 'friendzone' exists and such. Also it apparently makes them more likely to sexually assault people. Interestingly enough, there have been very few studies about the effects of watching porn on girls.

A child's mind is not mature enough to learn about the explicit details of sex until they're an adult. Arguably, they could handle it at a younger age, but the law is set at 18, because that's when a child is legally considered an adult. If Christianity dictated the laws, pornography would be illegal altogether. And it was, at one point. The fact that it's commonplace today shows that the modern laws aren't entirely religiously motivated.

I always see people whining about how kids can't watch porn, but everyone's fine with kids not being allowed into NC-17 movies where people are being decapitated.

The single biggest determinant of whether or not someone's likely to sexually assault someone is if the person has been sexually abused themselves.

Any study that declares that is just a lie, statistics show that as the availability of pornography increases in an area, the rate of sexual assaults/rapes decreases in the same area.
Now, statistics aren't anything but suggestive, but it certainly is the direct opposite trend you would see if porn causes sexual assault/rape.

I disagree.

Updated by anonymous

Calm down on the religious discussion a bit, guys.

The stem is actually a legal issue where it states that a minor cannot view pornographic material. A minor is loosely defined as someone who is dependent on another adult and cannot make a living on their own. This results in the thinking that people who cannot make effective decisions to become self-sufficient are not capable at making responsible decisions with regards to sex.

Updated by anonymous

This has nothing to do with the illegality of underage porn consumption, but I don't think many male teenagers are mature enough to realize that the way women are treated in porn is not the way they should be treated in real life. Add this to the over-sexualization of music and fashion making guys and girls think that life is all about partying and fucking. And yes I realize that the laws were in place long before Ke$ha, yoga pants, and MTV were a thing, but the current state of things isn't helping.

It all comes down to the fact that, based on the laws of the land, any person under 18 is considered a minor and thus is unfit for making responsible decisions on their own, including sex. Now do I think that's fair?
Sorta...?
I mean, there are plenty of people who are under the age of 18 that are plenty responsible for their bodies and the impacts of sex towards their futures. And there are plenty of adults who are worse than children when it comes to dealing with the consequences of their actions. It technically should be up to the parents to educate their children about sex, but as you can see, parents don't like talking to their kids much of the time, and leave it up to the government and the schools, although they want it to be taught the way they believe is best for their kids. Which could all be solved by actually talking to their kids, but I digress.

Here's the bottom line for me though. Should we advocate porn consumption in minors? Not really, there are much better things a kid could be doing. But should we punish them for consuming it? Not at all.
I'm not sure whether masturbation is a viable substitute to abstinence programs or not, like that former surgeon general once said, mainly because it really depends on the person, and its basically impossible for one system to work for everyone.

But seriously OP, don't be a snitch, you might get stitches, punk.

Frankly, did any one of us *not* take an interest in porn before we were 18? I don't condone kids getting involved in things they don't understand, but the idea that people under 18 should never even *see* a nude image is kinda ridiculous.
Maybe he won't sign up but I don't think anyone could stop a 15 year old from looking at porn all together (unless you just remove the internet from his house).

If you are reading this, underage viewer, do yourself a favour and make sure you know how a condom works, and try not to feel too pressured about getting laid. I guarantee your friends who pretend to know about it are talking out their asses.
