Topic: Tag Alias: spell -> magic

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I haven't really given much thought to the tags before, but my first thoughts were that spell is for when an actual spell is being cast, and that magic was for when anything of an obviously magical nature (spellbooks, glowing runes/glyphs, enchanted wands and staves, or spells themselves, etc) was present in the image. But I'm not sure how often that comes up on its own, and without having checked yet I'm fairly certain that most things tagged with magic probably are spells like you said. However, checking the first few posts of spell, I saw post #522787 which I think would qualify for magic, but not spell. I think it might be useful to keep the magic tag, even if just as the umbrella term for that kind of thing, but I may be thinking too much as an RPG player :P

There's obviously a lot of overlap, and if not aliased spell should definitely at least imply magic.

Yeah, I think there's some things that are magic without also showing a spell. And I think that the distinction Tokaido is talking about would be useful. So I'm going to change it to be an implication for now of spell to --> magic. With spell being for when a spell is being cast, and magic being an umbrella tag that includes other types and indications of magic as well. It may need some cleanup, but they're not really the same thing.
