I believe sometimes it's not just about the tag usage, but which tag name conveys the idea more easily, to prevent future mistags.

transformation_through_vore better matches other transformation trigger tags like transformation_through_sex, transformation_through_kiss, transformation_through_food. The x_transformation format is only used for tags where x describes what the character transforms into.

I would actually be able to get behind a bur that aliases all transformation trigger tags to transformation_by_x for brevity and consistency.
