Topic: [Feature] Language specification in the note/translation editor

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
Add checkboxes to add various language tags while marking a post as translated. In the interest of avoiding the UI/UX nightmare that is listing every language, perhaps users should be asked to give a short list of known/targeted languages that defines which shortcuts are available in the note editing mode. Alternatively, use the existing "Frequent tags" field and simply filter it for appropriate tags.

In particular, I can target the following rather consistently:

  • english_text
  • japanese_text
  • romaji_text

I have previously submitted an extremely small number of translations for:

  • chinese_text
  • spanish_text
  • russian_text

Why would it be useful?
The note editor giving a way to mark posts as translated quickly is already pretty great, but admittedly this leaves a lot of posts with incomplete language tagging. I should be tagging japanese_text on most of my projects (I'll look at tackling my note edit history at some point in the future, maybe after/concurrently with my translation_edit-related shenanigans), and this would allow me to fix that issue going forward with only one extra click per language.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Note editor on post/show/ pages for the more general language-marking, the user's settings page for defining known languages.

Updated

Sounds like a good idea to me, pretty much the "Frequent tags" feature but for the note editor instead.
