Topic: the operator does not work as it should in my blacklist when using artists

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

For example I am trying to add to my blacklist

"fellatio_pov -manfromearth
fellatio_pov -zonkpunch
fellatio_pov -crittermatic"

but even so, it keeps blocking me from seeing the posts of those artists despite the operator, I've been doing several tests and with rating tags, species, etc. it works perfectly, it only happens to me with artists, I imagine it's a bug but if anyone knows any alternative I can use I'm all ears

It's working, in fact, isn't it?
The only fellatio_pov posts which would be allowed per the above ruleset, would be posts with all 3 of those artist tags at once.

manfromearth would be removed by rules 2 and 3, zonkpunch by rules 1 and 3, and crittermatic by rules 1 and 2.

Obviously this is not what you want, but it is what you are telling e6 to do.

The correct rule would be a single line AFAICS.

I don't think that does what you want. A post is checked against each line in the blacklist individually, and needs to avoid matching all of them to be shown. A given post with fellatio_pov isn't likely to get past all three checks, since if it doesn't have manfromearth and zonkpunch and crittermatic together, the post will match one of the three and be blacklisted.

As I see it only works when I make a line and I only put the name of one of the artists, when adding more to the same line or a different one it fails again

Unless you show exactly what lines you are writing in those cases, it's hard to be sure what is wrong. i can only say that
'foo -bar -baz -xyz' is the correct structure for such a rule.

Now I realize what happens, I think

The operator does work as it should, I tried it with manfromearth and it works excellent, the issue comes with zonkpunch and crittermatic, no matter which operator I use, be it "sex -crittermatic" or "fellatio -zonkpunch" whatever, it doesn't work, no hide nothing or hide everything

I was testing and with manfromearth it works just as I need it but with the other 2 artists it doesn't

The rule as you show it looks correct. Then, according to what you explained, the search fellatio_pov ~manfromearth ~zonkpunch ~crittermatic is showing exactly 5 posts , rather than 9, for you?

If so that would be a bug. But for the simpler search fellatio_pov, it probably doesn't indicate a bug. The site loads a page, say 250 items*, then the blacklist cuts out items you do not want. No further items are loaded, even if the query has multiple pages in it. The proof that this is the nature of your problem, would be if the above search does show 9 posts for you.

  • whatever you have set in your preferences.

ok that way it works for me but only in the search, when it comes to putting it in my blacklist it does the opposite of what I want, but it does work

That search is not the same text as the blacklist rule. It's just a search which returns every post that your one-line blacklist rule won't discard, using the ~ (or) operator, not the - (negation) operator.

It's unclear to me whether, at this point, you understand that blacklisting items from the current page won't cause the browser to load items from the next page and process them, but I strongly suspect this is why you are experiencing this problem, and that the division by artist is simply a matter of the relevant posts by the omitted artist being old enough that they don't get into the first page of results.

Unfortunately there is no real likelihood of the site changing to 'refill' the page with non-blacklisted items from later pages in the same search. It may be that third party extensions/apps will do this for you, though (eg. RE621, e1547).

It's possible the site could better signal what is happening, though. At the moment you just have to check if the page navigation indicates more than 1 page.

I was seeing and although the posts do not appear when looking for "fellatio_pov", they continue to appear when I look for artists directly, the blacklist do not hide them, so I suppose that if it is working only that they do not appear when I look for "fellatio_pov" (although they should but the important thing is that does not hide)
