Topic: requesting deletion of self-uploaded post and artist tag

Posted under General

i uploaded this post first (after performing a cursory reverse image search and finding no results): https://e621.net/posts/3829321
then i went back and found a result after comparing md5 hashes in aco archives, which led me to an artist (clover_nsfw)
my intention was to create a new artist tag and add it to this post but i somehow mistakenly merged the tag for clover with the artist's tag: https://e621.net/artists/75846
before this i was unaware that e621 already catalogued this artist under a different alias, which fell under DNP status: https://e621.net/artists/44776

so the post needs to be removed, the artist tag "clover" need to be deleted, and i should never be allowed to touch the "New" button again. thank you and i apologize for the mess ive made

You did the correct thing by flagging the DNP upload mistake yourself to let us know. That's all that is needed to do, and that was the perfect way to help fix it.

Sometimes mistakes happen, but we appreciate whenever someone tries to fix their own mistake as soon as they realise it was DNP. Which is why people who flag their own DNP upload, will not get a record for uploading DNP. Because they did try to fix it and let us know after they realised it. That helps us and it also shows us that it was not done on purpose. I can also see from the history that it was an unknown artist at first before you found a way to identify the artist. Those can be especially tricky to predict because the artist could turn out to be anybody. So that can trip up a lot of people. But you did exactly the right thing by flagging it yourself as soon as you realised it was by a DNP artist. That was the perfect reaction.

In the future, the best way to prevent these types of mistakes is to always check the full DNP/conditional DNP list here: https://e621.net/wiki_pages/85 to see if the name of the artist you want to upload is on there. You can use ctrl + f in a lot of browsers to quickly search for a name or word on that page, which can make things easier to check as well. And obviously to also use caution when uploading something whenever the artist is unknown, because it is a bigger risk that they could turn out to be DNP. But if you ever do upload something that turns out to be DNP? Then flagging it yourself as soon as you can, is the best way to help us fix it.
