Don't really see it as weird in any way, people have fetishes, man.

cuckolding seems pretty tame to me, but I have to agree that the rest seem a little... odd.

But I don't judge either. I like things others would probably consider weird. Because of that, I don't really care that others create and enjoy content based around that stuff.

Anyway, bad endings are often written to make the audience feel better about the endless complexities of life.

Well adult media in general. Sad turns and bad ends in stories such as Ace's death in One Piece can be great. I'm actually referring to terrible plots in adult comics, games and movies that all seem to revolve around someone destroying someone else's life with no reason or consequence. This goes doubly for professionals seeing as it doesn't even look like they are trying most of the time. And if they aren't then why even waste to resources?

Anyway, I'm sure lots of those stories were written in the 90s and shared via newsgroups, so bad endings or entirely rotten main characters/stories aren't new (to erotic stories on the Internet) and neither are their readers. It's always been around, often barely out of sight and all but out of mind, I assume.

As a matter of fact, try browsing a repository of stories, one which doesn't enforce some community content guidelines or other censorship, for passably written stories that don't feature scumbags or arbitrary shitty behaviors or events. I swear to god, there may be more erotic stories featuring "nc"/"rape" and other not-so-taggable despicable or unapologetically coarse behaviors than stories that manage to maintain the pretense of human fucking decency throughout.

My observations have developed to the point where I unfairly assume that "human decency" is too unwieldy and onerous a concept for some amateur erotica authors to bother incorporating into their stories, that writing according to a common sense of morality requires too much effort. Based on that and a few real world accounts read here and there, the cynic in me wonders whether my concept of and expectation for basic human decency in the average person is too high a standard. In other words, I wonder if people's personalities and behaviors are a lot uglier than I wish to believe. Of course, consumers and creators of such works can roundly dismiss my cynicism with a "thought crime" defense, as I have for my own philia, but that doesn't allay my disappointment in their seeming callousness when it comes to getting off (and duplicity in defense thereof).

Like I said, you don't even have to use amateur work, it's just if not more over saturated in professional work. Just check DLSite. You'll get hundreds of pages of rape, death and NTR but you'll only find something like 5 pages tagged "happy couple" or consensual.

@Ko-san: If you wanna see some happy endings, you should check out the comics made by Mikazuki Karasu, they mostly got really heart-warming endings imo. Also if you're prepared for a big adventure, check out 'Better Late Than Never' (Rule 34 applied to Kung Fu Panda, just a warning), it got over 400 pages but a very pleasant ending imo. Other than that, there's funny stuff like 'Here There Be Dragons' (Pt. 1-3).
