I don't really have much knowledge on video files, so I can't really answer very accurately here, but as far as I'm aware e621 should be rejecting anamorphic videos from being uploaded. If there is anything wrong with the conversion, I'm sure Mairo will be here soon enough to explain it.
As for making replacements, anybody on this list should theoretically capable of making post replacements, plus a number of other users that have the "replacements beta" permission listed on their profile.

It certainly isn't an automatic reject as far as I can tell. I kinda hate how the tool I use for conversion, VidCoder, automatically checks Anamorphic on by default. Like the replacement literally would just be the same file but with Anamorphic turned off, because I forgot that it was turned on by default.

Yes, Earlopain pushed update that now video files that are anamorphic should be rejected during upload.
This is similar relief to when 1 hour max duration was put in by Kira, VLC transcodes which were 99% borked and corrupted stopped basically immidiately.
This has mostly been problem with Handbrake and non-standartized (film/TV industry) 16:9 or or 4:3 resolutions, where the software essentially forces the video to be 16:9 and then makes it anamorphic and lets player just stretch it back up - disregarding the fact that these codecs work absolutely fine with any aspect ratio and resolution as long as it can be divided by 2 in both dimensions.
This is also why it has only been problem with some uploads but not all and users going "well my previous uploads were fine apparently" because it's not "on" setting, it's "auto" and the rules and defaults are just plain fucking stupid and users who do transcoding with this software has no idea what any of them do.
I also generally only read messages where my name is highlighted.

Why are you using VidCoder instead of just using Handbrake directly? As far as I can tell, it's tool to rip physical discs and then transcode them using Handbrake.

I tried using Handbrake directly and honestly it just felt like the same tool as VidCoder but 10x more cumbersome to use and slower, especially when converting things in bulk. So yeah, I'll just stick to using what works for me. Anamorphic being turned on by default has literally been the only problem I've had using it, unlike with Handbrake.
All right, I contacted furrypickle to see if they can replace the file. This is my first time with this kinda scenario, so I don't know if I'm doing it correctly.

They seem to have replaced the file, I got to the post now and your original upload is not anamorphic either and these are essentially identical files.

So yes, if you were to actually upload anamorphic file, it would've been prevented to begin with. I know this because there's now bug that if I try to replace anamorphic file, site fails to generate backup and stops the replacement process as the backup is anamorphic and saving that is prevented.

Well that's a relief, that both files wound up being identical and that I got it right in the first place. Still, better safe than sorry.

I did not know there was a 1 hour limit. Why?
