Topic: The Big Vore BUR/Alias/Implication Thread

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Edit: Rather than clog up the forum with several vore related BURs, aliases and implications, I'm going to make a thread to collect all of my proposals.

Getting rid of "vore_sex"

The bulk update request #4431 is active.

create alias vore_sex (0) -> vore (61910)

Reason:

  • the tag name is extremely vague
  • the definition is too specific for the tag name
  • the tag is applied to anything and everything with sexual acts or even just sexual arousal, and vore, it doesn't seem to be a specific or useful tag
  • the tag seems to be mostly applied by the same user
examples

This tag should either be invalidated (with a disambiguation page) or aliased to vore, there are so many more specific tags and potential tags that could be made to describe sexual acts mixed into a vore scenario:

EDIT: The bulk update request #4431 (forum #360947) has been approved by @slyroon.

More specific, accurate, useful replacements for vore_sex:
  • sex with pred - a character either having sex with someone who has already consumed another, or before being consumed by the character they are having or just had sex with is a recurring theme in vore content and would be far less vague than vore_sex is.
  • sex with prey - a character having sex with another character, who is being, or is about to be consumed by a third character
  • masturbating_pred/masturbating_prey - another common theme in vore, would help differentiate who's doing what in posts tagged vore masturbation

Edit: these tags are now being applied, will have pages soon.
All four have pages, along with links to other "sexual vore" tags.

Updated

No needs to say "This might be controversial but" because if people want to find a reason to complain it is better to leave them at it rather than encouraging it by acknowledging them loudly.

I doubt it is any controversial, this is a nothing tag that is useless and redundant.

Rather than clog up the forum with multiple vore related BUR/Aliases/Implications, I'm just going to add this one here, along with any potentially other vore related AIBURs.

unwilling_vore/willing_vore invalidation

The bulk update request #4433 is active.

remove implication unwilling_vore (4) -> vore (61910)
remove implication willing_vore (0) -> vore (61910)
change category unwilling_vore (4) -> invalid
change category willing_vore (0) -> invalid

Reason: This one might actually be controversial because they've been around for a while, and does get used, but they're redundant and too vague, who is the unwilling/willing party?

  • We have unwilling pred, unwilling prey, willing pred and willing prey, which more clearly describe the consent of the characters involved in a vore situation.
  • These two tags are often used as "fluff tags" in addition to the four tags above, or used in cases where the willingness of either party isn't actually clear, making them entirely irrelevant clutter

unwilling_vore and willing_vore could be invalidated and used as disambiguation pages to direct users to these other tags. Alternatively, they could be aliased to vore, as the vore wiki page includes these willing/unwilling tags already.

EDIT: The bulk update request #4433 (forum #360984) has been approved by @slyroon.

"Pred" and "Prey" Disambiguation/Invalidation

The bulk update request #4438 is active.

create alias pred (5) -> predator_(disambiguation) (310)
create alias prey (11) -> prey_(disambiguation) (192)
change category prey_(disambiguation) (192) -> invalid

Reason: More pointless fluff tags, neither are used with any particular meaning but are constantly added to vore posts. Predator is already invalid.

EDIT: The bulk update request #4438 (forum #361041) has been approved by @slyroon.

I think aliasing pred to predator_(disambiguation) is better since it's the same thing.
And since predator already has a disambiguation tag, perhaps prey also could use one? For standardization between these two tags.

Good idea, I've changed the BUR over to your suggestion.

Invalidating "mobian_pred" and "mobian_prey"

The bulk update request #4439 is active.

create alias mobian_pred (0) -> predator_(disambiguation) (310)
create alias mobian_prey (0) -> prey_(disambiguation) (192)

Reason: These two are another pair of "fluff tags" added to several vore posts featuring Sonic characters, they really don't have any meaning that isn't conveyed by vore sonic_the_hedgehog_(series) and from what I understand, the term "Mobian" isn't even consistently used in the franchise. topic #35709 covers aliases for mobian_* species tags.

EDIT: The bulk update request #4439 (forum #361064) has been approved by @slyroon.

We shouldn't add invalid_tag to posts unless absolutely necessary, i.e. there is no possible tag that could apply to all those posts at once. In this case, an alias to vore would again work fine (the curious case of post #3917645 notwithstanding).

Oh yeah, maybe mobian_pred and mobian_prey could be aliased to predator_(disambiguation) prey_(disambiguation) respectively. Mobian doesn't mean anything meaningful, but pred and prey may.

Another good suggestion, BUR's changed.

Aliasing "Permavore" to "Vore"

The bulk update request #4450 is pending approval.

create alias permavore (0) -> vore (61910)

Reason: "Permavore" is a vore roleplaying term for permadeath where the roleplayer discards the character after the session. As far as tagging goes, it's meaningless, isn't TWYS, and none of the posts I can find reference "permadeath" or being "respawned" or anything like that.

The tag seems to be randomly applied to vore posts with fatal endings e.g. post #3721939 or more confusingly, posts like post #1874908

stumbled on these yesterday while fixing some Sonic-related robot tag stuff.

I think just aliasing it to anthro_pred and anthro _prey would be fine, I'm not finding any cases where the mobian_* tags had been used on non-anthro characters.
