Topic: Stuff that makes you happy

Posted under Off Topic

Seeing as how the "Shit that makes pisses you off" thread have more than fourteen pages of negativity to it, I thought we might as well try and balance it out with a thread dedicated to the things that makes us happy, the things that brighten our days.

Got anything that cheers you up and makes your day that much better?

Things that make me happy:
Tea
Biscuits
Dr Who
The Mighty Boosh
The Thick of It
The League of Gentlemen
People who say "an Historian" rather than "a Historian"
ASOIAF references
Listverse
Looking up rude words in my German dictionary
Finding interesting words in dictionaries
Board games
Dissecting how shit the Daily Mail is
Crusader King II
Calvin and Hobbes
Sporcle
The fact that Scotland didn't gain independence

Off the top of my head that's all I can be arsed to write.

You sir, are dreadfully British, which is awesome.

On a related note, this makes me happy

OHHHHH. So when Americans have been talking about faces they were really talking about slappy hams! This really has opened horizons for me, thank you very much.

When you finally get something you've worked very hard to get. I recently downloaded all the DLC packs for the 2012 version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I started trying to beat the Hennessey Venom GT so I could have it. I used the Koenigsegg Agera and the Bugatti Veyron and it still wasn't enough. I went back at it with the McLaren F1 LM, and after a few retries, I finally beat him and shut him down. Same with the Shelby GT500 and the BMW M3 GTR. It was so satisfying.

Boonie hats. I dunno, I just like them. Be it a stormy night or a sunny day, they won't let you down. And they have a chin strap, so they won't get blown away.

Hell yeah, boonie hats are great.

I like the look of boonie hats, but every one I've tried in a store has always been to small for my freakishly massive head. :(

EDIT!

Things that make me happy:

Guns, knives, flashlights and misc survival gear. Guy stuff! Fuck yeah 'Merica!

Going on drives out in the country, especially on the quieter days when there's not a lot of traffic. I love going out and just finding a quiet place to read in my car. It's lovely to hear just the wind in the trees rather than the sounds of the city.

and last is spending time with my S.O. outside of the house. Lately we've both been working a lot so we can't really go out. :(

Ah yes, I thought of something.
Watching insects mill about. Mantises in the grass, dragonflies by a lake.
The sound of summer is the sound of cicadas.
I had the pleasure last weekend to watch a monarch butterfly emerge from its chrysalis and pump up its wings. Took lots of photos, managed to get a handful of excellent ones.

That sort of thing.

I was just thinking about that. Nothing like riding in neutral down a mountain road…

I really like the rain, for some reason it makes me happy. Or just cloudy days.

I love rain.
The small outside when it's been raining on a really warm sunny day.
The feel when you sit inside in the warmth when it's storming and pouring down outside.
The feel of getting completely soaked when you're experiencing extreme weather.

Something about huge lines of soldiers firing at each other by rank, colonization, naval warfare etc. just really makes me happy.

A lot of kids these days think it was stupid how people lined up like that. They should know that the American revolutionaries only found success after they started marching in rank and file.

I left my 3DS and my Wii-U in the desert wasteland on the opposite side of the country known as California. My brother will have to mail them back to me.

In the meantime, I'm stuck with either my N64 or this.

The fact that many people here actually watch Markiplier too :D
Did you know that he is the brother of Tom, the creator of TwoKinds? Lol, I have the weird feeling Mark could be a bit into furries too, as far as I can say he hinted it at some points.

Watching my 6-year old bro having fun and laughing. Seriously, when noone else on the world really loves you but your little brother, you just can't do something else than becoming fond of him so much. I recently realized how much he means to me actually.

I thought I'd have to use the Internet to get these, but I didn't. I got pretty lucky with the Ferris Bueller's Day Off Ferrari a few months ago, too.

random dancing and singing. I suck at both, but when im alone and have the house to myself, nothing cheers me up more than blasting music (of any genre, really) and trying to bust a move. Headbanging and air guitars with metal music works too.

D&D is a lot of fun, but you really need a creative DM with a lot of dedication...and preferably a party that doesn't play WoW.

I've played WoW, and I'm sure all my gamer buddies have, too, but they don't seem to be major addicts. Does that count?

The problem is that they want it to play LIKE WoW, when it won't because it's DnD. Not true of all WoW players, but it's a hard habit to break for most most.

The pace and leveling is a lot slower, and depending on the campaign, death of your character may mean making a new character. Hit points are a lot lower, much less grinding, less possibilities for constantly upgrading gear, etc. And unfortunately when people get bored they sometimes just try to attack things because they can, (although this isn't really specific to WoW players).

I'd always preferred playing with other girls because they were always more keen on the roleplaying aspect of it (which is way more fun in person IMO). It's also better to keep with small groups (3-5 max) otherwise people tend to get bored quickly waiting for their turn, even when they're having fun. However, when word gets around that someone has a game going tonight you just end up with a messy group of 10-12 with half trying to get into the pants of the other half and it doesn't really go as well as you'd expect for the 10 hours that passed by unnoticed.

I'd better stop before I write a book. :P

I'm a backstabbing conniving bitch when I play Monopoly for some reason, which is extremely weird because it's one of the only times that I'm comfortable being assertive.

Oh, and technically Risk. But fuck Risk, Risk is too long.

I got really lucky with the radio this week; I also heard Space Oddity for the first time on Monday... I wasn't ready for that ;_;
