Topic: Tag alias: wooden_table -> wood_table

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #61948 wooden_table -> wood_table has been approved.

Reason: wooden_table has 64 posts and wood_table has 156, and they're evidently equivalent.

This follows the same logic as wooden_floor and wooden_wall that have been aliased to their wood_* counterparts.

There's more of these and - I looked for existing alias requests but forgot to check for this - there is actually a BUR .

I'm not gonna argueand upvote right away for consistency and to keep things clean and because itd otherwise be quibbling over a detail.

But to speak frankly, I think the wodden variant of all the tags make more sense wooden_floor, wooden_wall, wooden_table, wooden_chair etc for the simple fact wooden_* is an ajective but wood_* isnt. Ultimately, this matters little, but this is something I wanted to point out, this is why wooden_chair is more popular than wood_chair

I'd agree with you on this, actually. Most seems to go from wooden to wood, however, so maybe most people see it differently?

It's for consistency with other <material>_<object> tags. Wood is the only material where a different word tends to be used, e.g. glass floor, stone wall, paper bag, plastic bowl... wooden table? "Wood table", "wood fence", etc, while perhaps slightly odd, are still correct linguistically and keep the same pattern with everything else.
