Topic: e621's api returns status code 403

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

I don't know why but when I try to make a request to the api it returns status code 403 even though I don't lack User-Agent.
The requests used to work fine until the new Cloudflare update came so I was wondering what might be the cause that it returns status code 403 each time I try to make a request.
If someone knows the cause, how can I fix it to work?

Currently at a funeral so I'd just like to meme a bit ...
Me hunting down the cloudflare IT Team

e6 is having issues, since yesterday. Just give it some time, try it tomorrow or something.

same

I have an idea!
Let's create a few more threads about this problem, the more the merrier.
And then, let's fill these threads with replies that add nothing to the discussion, like "me 3".
That'll go a long way towards solving the issue.

Well, the issue is persisting, and from the user side it's not like we can do anything about it other than say "api's giving a 403, pls fix", so what would you rather us do? not report anything and just assume it'll go away?

the cause is not client-side, so the only thing api consumers like us can do is wait for the admins to fix whatever new bug disguised as a feature rolled out. the last time this happened, last december, it took most of two days for the api to start working as documented again. unless the admins tell us different, all we can do is treat this as a temporary if agonizingly long server outage.

There's already a thread, no need to make a new one:
topic #36318

Or use the General bug report thread.

But enough people have already reported the problem, so the admins are aware of it.
Making new threads or making existing threads longer isn't going to get it fixed faster.
Unless someone can add genuinely new information, not just "me 4".
