Technically there's a second definition for "to undergo the military punishment of receiving blows while running between two rows of men with sticks / to go through an intimidating or dangerous crowd, place, or experience in order to reach a goal". But it doesn't seem to be used that way here, so it shouldn't be a problem.

So, alias is approved. And implication to --> armor is also approved, because if it's not actually armor then it's just elbow_gloves and should be tagged with that instead.

There's also the trial gauntlets, to earn the hand of a fair maiden, or just to entertain the pubic. See wipeout, post #156744.
