Opening this thread so @watsit takes a stand back and stops removing it from every post he can find. It is really not helpful at all and if there's any problem with the tag, then it would be better-off solved by invalidating it or re-defining it.

We don't tag whether art is made as a commission, ych, trade, personal, etc. It was already rejected to make a meta tag, so it's an invalid tag that should be removed. If we could use the nuke command, we could add that to the BUR instead, but simply making it invalid will still leave it on posts, so the longer we wait on that, the more there will be to clean up.

Firstly, an admin should look into that BUR, it has overwhelming support to invalidate the tag. But most importantly, a tag is invalid only if it is added to a post to which it shouldn't be, or it is in the invalid caegory. ych_result is general, not invalid currently.
I'm starting to think we should invalidate ych_(character) as well, and replace all valid uses with placeholder_character or something. Despite having a well-defined meaning, it is still widely abused to evade the ban on advertising metatags. Any future attempt at maintaining a tag containing the string "ych" will undoubtedly suffer the same fate.

Because it's waiting on a BUR (and which there seems to be the question if all these YCH tags should be aliased to invalid_tag, or if they should all be aliased to ych and put in the Invalid category, which makes it invalid either way; the admins have already rejected making it Meta). The precedent is set, commission, commissions, art_trade, trade, etc are already aliased to invalid_tag, YCH tags are in this same group of what a piece was made for, ergo, ych_result, ych, ych_commishes, furry_ych, open_ych, etc, shouldn't be on any post. And as I said, simply making it invalid with that BUR will still leave it on posts, so the longer we wait on cleaning it up, the more there will be to clean up since more people will think it's valid if left alone in the mean time.
Would this apply to image sets that are clearly just redrawn versions of the same image with different characters? I'm not sure how TWYS interacts with what is probably belonging to a set. Not sure that even needs to be tagged, though. :/

You can have character swaps that aren't a result of a YCH, and you can have YCHs that don't result in character swaps. We don't generally tag images based on the contents of other images (at most you have things like alternate_version_at_source, which is supposed to only be for images that have an off-site alt that should be posted here, and once posted here, that tag should be removed).

Cool, so this tag should only exist for images that explicitly are (non-completed) YCH and those probably should be rarer than hen's teeth here because of quality requirements. YCH examples for unfulfilled orders tend to look awful. XD

For that we have unfinished for an unfinished/incomplete image, and ych_(character) for when a character is clearly an undefined placeholder meant to be replaced (generally with the word "you" or "ych" written on them), though anon can sometimes be applicable instead.

They also tend to be deleted because advertisements, yet another reason on top of "unfinished" tag existing, to get rid of most(all?) of them.
