Topic: About Pokemon regional forms

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Could we make that regional forms also get tagged as the original form?

For example:
If I want to see arcanine, regardless of region, I just search arcanine instead of ~arcanine ~hisuian_arcanine ;
If I want to see all Vulpix, regardless of region, I just search Vulpix instead of ~Vulpix ~Alolan_Vulpix.

So we don't need to know which pokemon has what region form.

Making ~vulpix ~alolan_vulpix searches marginally more convenient for you is not worth losing the ability to find posts that depict both species (vulpix alolan_vulpix).

I've never really understood why we do it this way rather than mirroring how we treat real-life subspecies.

If you don't care which you see: vulpix
If you only want the OG vulpix: kantonian_vulpix
If you want an image that contains both: kantonian_vulpix alolan_vulpix

Because people will rarely ever use "kantonian_vulpix" to refer to vulpix's original form, they'll just tag vulpix and leave the "kantonian_vulpix" tag to rot, resulting in the same problem we're trying to avoid. It also would make a mess considering mega evolution and gigantamax forms alongside regional forms (gigantamax_kantonian_meowth? non-mega_charizard?) .
