Topic: Tag alias: Mariader -> Cringulitta

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #62090 mariader -> cringulitta has been approved.

Reason: The author (Mariader) now goes under different name (Cringulitta), and asked to make an alias so while she would publish new works under new name, it would still be possible to find her under old one (as there are works published under it). Is it possible to turn old nickname into alias?

On related note, she has two characters with old names attached.

EDIT: The tag alias mariader -> cringulitta (forum #363870) has been approved by @bitWolfy.

Don't forget to walk us through the connection using off-site sources. For example, all the Mariader pictures source to the Undercoat FA and sometimes the Undercoat Twitter, both of which flat-out say that the artist is Cringulitta. Further, e621's pictures by the artist are signed "Mariader", but their FA sources are instead signed "Cringulitta", which I'd presume is because the artist could update those far more easily than those on e621. Here's a random example on e621 versus its FA counterpart.

Sorry, it's the first time I use this feature, and I just had to mess it up; would be more careful next time. Found the actual announcements of the change: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10540512/

Undercoat is a team of arists; some of them have their own pages, while Mariader/Cringulitta only posts on Undercoat page. They always list who did which piece of art. She updated most pages still crediting her as Mariader, except for few where she no longer has original files to update them.

You're fine. Don't beat yourself up for something you didn't know. Think of what I said as getting you up to speed on things Admins like to have to make things easier to approve (or I admit, possibly deny if necessary) your request.

That's even better than what I dug up. Thank you. :) I'm going to hazard that this will make things much easier for an Admin to approve this.

That also does clear up some lingering questions I had. Good work.

As it's the first time I'm doing this; on average, how long it takes for such decisions to be made? As it's nearly the first week of waiting, starting to worrying whether there's similar procedure with auto-rejecting (and subsequent ban on trying it again) if it's not reviewed soon enough, as with images.

Especially since there is some new artwork produced under new name, and I'm not sure how to properly handle it while decision is pending (tagging it under new name with old one not made into redirect can make the other art hard to look for; while still using old one isn't correct given that it's not longer in use).

It varies, and basically boils down to whenever an Admin gets around to it. There are some requests that have been sitting in the queue for years, but some easy ones can be approved within hours. They don't auto-reject after a set amount of time, and there's no ban on remaking them if rejected, although pointless remakes (such as a stubborn user trying to push through a bad request despite an Admin rejecting it for good reason) will not be looked kindly upon. (Rest assured, you're not one of those stubborn users.)

Whatever way you feel works best. Until it's aliased away, the old name is technically still correct on e621, so you wouldn't be out of bounds posting both names on new uploads. After all, without the alias, having both names tagged on a picture improves searchability for that artist's works.
