Topic: Another post closing in to the 30 days mark

Posted under General

Another one of my posts is getting close to be deleted by being unapproved in 30 days (https://e621.net/posts/3992028) and I'm wondering why. This would be already the third post from the artist bimbovaporeon/bimboaudino with this reason (https://e621.net/posts/3800139 and https://e621.net/posts/3887099).
All three posts in question show pokemon, so they should belong here. I know it is possible that the staff just missed them (one look at the list for tag implications and aliases is enough to know that they are VERY busy), but three times?
Is there something I can do to prevent another upload to just fly past everyone? Did I tag something that made them not wanting to approve these posts?

DM a janitor, any janitor. Have them have a look at it, and pray they approve it. People are busy.

There's no need to make a thread about it, when there's already a stickied thread about it.

General idea is that by the time 30 days have passed, the staff have had the chance to look at it, and didn't feel like it was worth approving. If none of them felt it was worth approving in that time, then it's removed by the bot to avoid anybody needing to go back to it.

I mean, it doesn't look like it fails quality requirements? Not sure how high that bar is nowadays.

Might be because it's close to the "looks like a human" line. I would probably find it acceptable it on account of the cream-like hair, but it is pretty close to my eyes.

I already thought about that, but I have uploaded several pics of characters, who look even closer to humans, but they got approved without a problem.

You posted something that makes approvers unwilling to approve them. All three had at least two Janitors who looked at them. Just because something is known to be a Pokémon (TWYK) doesn't mean it always looks like a Pokémon (TWYS). This is an archive for furry-related art, which includes, to a degree and sometimes reluctantly, characters who are just one step away from being too human. The rather arbitrary cut-off point is humanoid pointy ears (which is frequently pushing it, much to our annoyance). Funky skin colors and a lack of nose don't count.

The simple fact of the matter is that some pictures of Pokémon can look indistinguishable from humans, especially when portrayed from the wrong angle. Even though TWYK calls them Pokémon, TWYS will point out that they look too disturbingly human to be relevant. So, they get outright deleted or, in more borderline cases, passed on to whoever looks at it next multiple times until someone is willing to pull the trigger or the auto-mod does it.

As for why those particular pictures got rejected, post #3887099 looks very much like a human wearing a pikachu hoodie turning into a goofy-colored human wearing a mimikyu hat and wearing a fake tail. The two reviewers who looked at it clearly felt it wasn't relevant, but also felt it was so borderline that they also didn't feel confident in just deleting it themselves.

For post #3800139, that one's also borderline, but scooched a little more towards the other side of wherever the line is. It looks like an android that's very close to human-like. Really human-like androids are a big pain because it's tough to draw that line. It's frequently a judgement call on whether there's enough mechanical stuff to be approve-worthy or not. Clearly, the two who disapproved of that one felt it was too much definitely on the line to reject it outright.

For post #3992028, that's a Pokémon? It looks like a bust portrait of a human wearing food as clothing. Looking at it as someone who doesn't know the Pokémon of that generation, it's not relevant.

Tagging wasn't the problem. As said above, the problem is inherent in the pictures themselves. They look too human. If you want them to pass muster as Pokémon, forget what you know about the characters and look at them as a complete outsider would who doesn't know or care about the lore. Make sure they clearly look the part as non-humans instead of like weird humans.

If you want to upload human-looking characters then you gotta really understand the Uploading Guidelines and be prepared to judge art as if you were somebody who didn't know the characters/species.
This post is going to be a lot less funny if I ever stop using this avatar.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I just looked at the pictures, immediately saw them as pokemon and didn't question it any further. After making this forum post I took another look at my deleted uploads, ignored the fact that I see pokemon and finally understood what the issue has been. (At the same time I realized why 3 of my other uploads are also likely not gonna make it. Bodysuits cover up too much.)
