Update Regarding Upload Policy 2.7 - Content Involving MinorsTL;DR: Fur Affinity have amended their policies to now consider the childlike body proportions of characters rather than only the canonical character information. The update will go into effect July 1st, 2023.
----
If there's any artists that have content that may fall foul of this change, now's the time to start scraping the content and archiving it here before it gets nuked. Artists will possibly be self-deleting their content to prevent having any action taken against their account, so content might already be getting deleted.
I recommend reverser as a great tool for scraping Fur Affinity galleries
Known artists deleting content
If you know anybody who isn't on this list, please comment below or send a message
- ancesra (journal) - deleted all but one submission
- argon_vile (journal) - purging May 28
- bloominglynx (journal) - checking with administration, "Most likely, within a week I will delete some of the works and move them to other places qwq"
- hugoriolu - requested deletion of FA account
- imanika (journal) - already deleted(?)
- kekitopu (tweet) - deleted whole account
- sadcat16hrz (journal) - "I find myself compelled to remove certain posts"
- skoon (multiple journals) - nuked everything
- stripedcrocodile (submission) - won't delete their gallery, but thinks FA will
- talentlesshack (journal) - nuked everything - DNP on e621
- whitefeathersrain (journal) - Will be forced to delete a bunch of content in 2 weeks. Much of it will be relocated to Telegram, but who knows how much will be acceptable there.
see also TheGreatWolfgang's list
here I am LMAO, then realizing....WAIT? Doesn't that mean we have to go around FA and start getting the pics faster then the artists deleting content?
SHIT, the ants are gonna have to work overtime now

I would also like to say that, no, actually, no site, no domain, should ever be "The One Centralized Hub Of All Things".Twitter, Facebook, Google, Deviantart, so many have demonstrated how the whole idea is folly (and with greater consequence).
e621 shouldn't be "the center of the furry fandom" either, no matter how decent or fair it is, now.
well, when a subculture is niche enough it pretty much necessitates having a central hub or at least a network of smaller connected communities. I mean, you're never going to have _everything_ on one website, but having one place where most of a community gathers is not necessarily a bad thing. I mean, Newgrounds was the hub for a big chunk of independent animation for quite a while and I never saw that causing any problems. uhh... speedrun.com, smwcentral... there were a bunch of wikis back in the day like hrwiki that were the center of communities, and, to some extent, still are; the list goes on.
but also, I don't think being the main center of the furry fandom was ever something e6 wanted, and honestly, the only way it'd end up with that being the case is if every other furry community crumbled to dust.
we have policies that are core to our identity that turn a lot of artists and users off: we try to be inclusive to the intrests of as many furs as possible, but there are always going to be artists that don't want their art featured on the same website that stuff that they find objectionable. we try to have a well-organized, consistent, searchable, browsable archive of art through TWYS and there are some artists that are always going to want control over what their art is labeled as that TWYS cannot provide/allow. we have a minimum quality requirement that some artists just might not be able to achieve. we try to keep comments clean and repectful across the site so, we don't allow RP and have other comparably strict rules about what behavior is allowed in comments and some users aren't going to want to follow those rules. our site is 18+ and the subset of the fandom that is under that is not going to be allowed in.
Can't believe people have been donating to FA all these years with barely any site upgrades as well as (various shocking revelations of RL misdeeds that get swept under the rug and forgotten within 6 months every times it happens). The leopards finally started eating more faces. Even the site owner's.
There's no way this won't be weaponized just to get rid of people the mods don't like. From the leaked Discord stuff, it sounds like the final choice is up to 1-2 people and it's not exactly like FA has a track record of fair moderation. Let's see if all the artists who used the "ask us if this counts! totally not a trap!" form will be the first ones to get banned even if they 'clean' their gallery.
Someone pointed out to me things like Aggretsuko/Sanrio style also counts as child proportions. You know, alcohol swilling office workers. And Bolt, who is canonically an adult, though, admittedly, designed bizarrely neonatal (runt shep?). Hoping some DNP artists change their mind and allow it here again, always really annoying when the majority of an artist's work would hit my blacklist but the stuff I actually like is really good and I have no way to filter it on FA or Twitter.
Yaroul will be deleting "any and all young looking pokemon just to be on the safe side" from their FA account.
They just recently locked the feedback thread on the FA Discord :/

Which is a shame since fa has one of the nicest communities online, but I reckon most of the artists will choose a place like Baraag, Twitter or Pixiv to go to, or create a replacement furry art site.

I've known this day would come eventually. There are a number of artists I like who've had art of theirs deleted before which I then re-uploaded here for posterity. FeetyMcFoot is one of them, but admittedly I don't have infinite storage for them, so there will inevitably be art that is gone permanently. Hopefully, That onion archive site and furarchiver.net stay online long enough to save most if not all the posts.

I'd say I'm shock, but that would imply I had hope first. I'm honestly not sure what they're trying to pull besides trying to 'listen to feedback' where they can just ignore it.

Allegedly, they were deleting responses and manipulating reactions, too.

I’ve heard of the former, but not the latter. What, do they have bots to boost the reactions or something?
Kind of unrelated but, an artist got a reply to their ticket; long story short, it's very 'drunk at the wheel' feel.

Reactions on Discord can be removed by a moderator.

That, and they can make sock puppets that say the changes are welcome. Not that they need to, considering all the people willing to shill and donate to FA no matter how bad they fuck everyone over. Hopefully this will actually break the spell on some of them, anyway.
Got my own view on this but!
A wait-and-see approach would be amazing here.
Taking your content that may break the new rule
off the site for now, let the rule sit for a couple of
months, see how it's cooking then adapt accordingly, Dood.
Maybe the rule is a lot laxer than it sounds with
something like this Flying even though their first evolution, Riolu

and this being a no-go because of the smaller features and so on, Dood.

They did say:
"Again, small or otherwise cute adults, Pokemon/Digimon or not, will not be removed unless they proportionally/anatomically represent a child."
If you feel like your content is no longer allowed there,
what's the harm in running a few test to see what is, You
only come out up. And worst case you lose nothing,
You weren't going back to the site anyway, ya know?
Don't burn the bridge just yet, put them under construction, Dood

Most of the people who are leaving are leaving due to the inability to give a clear answer, and the arrogance on display towards feedback, moreso than the guideline itself. The way it is worded currently, and bearing in mind they want to make the site more accessible to minors, not less, does nothing to "protect the children" and gives the moderation carte blanche to use whoever's style at any time to ban them. Users who have asked for clarification have been met with conflicting, nonsensical responses that seem to have little rhyme or reason as to what is or is not deemed "acceptable", many of which conflict with both public statements made and with the statements made to other artists for comparable content.
Add in the complete distrust users already had for Furaffinity's administration, given the cowards can't even be bothered to have a public staff list anymore (they used to; they removed it), blatantly lied about how they weren't going to close Discord feedback until they had posted another update on the situation, buried the lead to get to the discord to give said feedback to begin with and have a phonenumber lock on the server to filter out as many users as possible? Then, on top of that, every journal having disabled comments, shouts being deleted, the closure of the forums, and every means for public discourse to be squashed, manipulated, and silenced as humanly possible?
Add in the removal of unrestricted replacement image sizes in favour of a two-tier pay-for-size image uploading format, the continued inability to put into place even the most rudimentary of blacklisting systems, name-changing, or any other feature (many of which have been promised) over the course of nearly twenty years of site development, the sale, buyback, and general fuckery regarding ownership of the site, dubious staffing choices (Chase/Carmen, Furocity-absorbed staff exodus, Sciggles, Silver Eagle payment stiffing, Wolfblade, Zaush, Zidonuke), the Chew Fox fiasco (banning somebody for appearing on television and talking about fursuits), repeated guidelines-related "rules for thee but not for me" (Realporn ads in spite of guidelines against users posting the content in question, that showed up even on the SFW version of FA, comes to mind), and generalised money-grubbing behaviour?
Yeah, users don't have much reason to have faith in Furaffinity's administration to conduct themselves in an ethical, coherent, or even remotely organised, manner. I'd say they have every reason, instead, to be scared shitless of them, especially when the original terms of the rules change had no punishment grace period and was just an instant suspension and final warning... and especially when the response to users leaving or nuking galleries rather than risk being banned, as such, was to borderline mock them with the "deleted gallery too hastily" comment in the subsequent update journal, as though it was their fault for being afraid. No dude, this isn't a "wait and see" situation, this is a "fight it as hard as possible, and if they refuse to budge, let them have nothing from you" one.
Small and first evolutions are seen as kids / cubs by some or most, idk.
Me, I'm like: "Bro, that's just a pokemon, what are you talking about?"

All you have to do is put non-minor friendly content behind a block they can't get through until they age up. Doing anything else is not as effective and means they're likely lying about their motives.
I don't think anyone has pointed out yet that a ton of artists are about to get their accounts banned. Everyone who hasn't logged on in a while and has small characters in their galleries will likely get banned. There's lots of good content in abandoned accounts and one image may wipe out the whole account.
i wish more fa users knew other furry art gallery websites exist.

unless they've somehow managed to break it in recent years, too (which, let's face it, isn't beyond the realm of possibility for that crew), they already do have such a block.
to access adult content, you first have to register, then you have to give a birthdate. then, if your birthdate says you're old enough, you have to go into settings and opt in to seeing it, or if your birthdate doesn't, there's no opt-in to choose until you're old enough.

not to mention accounts of artists who passed away. badly inconsistent "i know it when i see it" moderation means their legacies are threatened, too.

And here's where those arguments over what is/isn't Fetish Material come in! Perhaps notably if FA ran under e621's rules, most vore stuff would already be rated Mature.

Editing your birthdate after account creation. (A feature I don't think I've seen anywhere else.)

Vore, TF, and several other fetishes are not considered "fetishes" by FA staff, and as such are not adult content. Having minors on a site primarily angled towards adult content, specifically a paraphilia (which, yes, furries are), at all, and inviting fetish content to be made of characters in the same allowable age range as said underage users, is, bluntly, inviting grooming.

Nah, that used to be the norm up until social media giants about 5-10 years ago determined they didn’t want the liability anymore.
You know, like not attaching your online identity to your real life one.
We're done here. Thank you all for playing.
