Topic: Snake Pokémon are confusing

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

To me, it seems like searching for snake Pokémon (or at least, snake-like) is fairly difficult at the moment. Like, I initially expected that when I search pokemon snake that I would be able to find all of the standard snake Pokémon (like serperior, arbok, seviper, dragonair I think?, etc.), but recently I learned that apparently the snake tag is meant for actual snake species, so I guess Pokémon technically wouldn't apply. But I feel that some Pokémon are still unambiguously snakes (like Ekans), and I enjoy snakes and want to find them. If I want to find posts with snake-like Pokémon species, I would have to search all of the previously mentioned Pokémon species individually, which is a bit time consuming. And there are a lot of Pokémon, so for example: if I don't even know what a Silicobra is, how would I find posts of it? This is only further muddled by how some Pokémon posts are still tagged with snake, even if the Pokémon is not actually serpentine (as can be seen by searching for: pokemon snake anthro ). I feel like a tag like fossil_pokemon should be made for snake-like Pokémon to resolve the confusion and make them easier to find, but I don't know how to do that (I'm still not sure how BURs work tbh), and I don't know if it would be supported. Is it a good idea or bad idea, I'm not sure?

There is a serpentine tag.

I suppose, but since there are more posts of feral snakes without the serpentine tag than with (see: snake feral -serpentine ), with feral snakes being the place where that tag would most apply, I'm not really sure how effective it is. There's also anthro snakes, which are still considered snakes while being anthro, I feel like a similar thing applies to Pokémon like Arbok when anthroified.

yeah, locomotion-method-type tags like biped, quadruped, and, in this case, serpentine, despite being valid and quite useful, are severely undertagged. we should probably make a tag project and get some dedicated taggers on it.

Serpentine seems like the right way to go. For what it's worth, Milotic if I remember right is probably an oarfish, so while the body type is serpentine(so probably something you'd like to have show up), it's an example of something that wouldn't fit having a snake species tag(at least as a default thing, someone could specifically draw one as a snake I guess?).
