Topic: What should the definition of Chrysalis be?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I was going to create a tag for characters transforming inside of cocoons or chrysalis. Example : post #3079619

Instead, I discovered that the chrysalis tag is a bit of a mess, and since there's no wiki, I'm not sure how it should be cleaned up. It's being used interchangeably with cocoons, and web bondage. It also has a lot of confusing aliases, because not all cacoons and pupa are chrysalis both scientifically and in common English. I'm not sure what the best way to define the tag would be, and I'm curious what other people think.

I think I know where the problem comes from, it is the same problem as slime. A whole lot of bs is aliased to this tag that shouldn't, so it gets tagged inadvertedly, or folks may have the wrong impression by glancing at the tag aliases.

remove alias coccoon_(pupa) (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias cocoon_(pupa) (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias pupa (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias insect_pupae (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias cocoon_(silk) (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias insect_pupa (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias cocoon_(pupae) (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias pūpae (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias cocoon (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias coccoon (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias pūpa (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias pupae (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias insect_pūpae (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias insect_pūpa (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias coccoon_(pupae) (0) -> chrysalis (313)
remove alias coccoon_(silk) (0) -> chrysalis (313)

Reason: Neither the scientific or common English definition of Chrysalis include all cocoons and all pupa. I'm removing aliases so the cocoon tag can be used for silk casings, Chrysalis can be reserved for only butterfly pupa and objects/characters that share traits with butterfly pupa, and pupa can be used for other pupa characters that lack either traits, like the pupa of beetles and bees.
