Topic: Should the "Amouge" tag be applied to all images with an Amy Rose/Rouge the Bat clothing swap?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

A few years ago there was a trend of drawing amy_rose wearing an alternate_costime/clothing_swap/cosplay of rouge_the_bat's clothes:

(At the time, someone else made a pool of all these images (see comment #5329471), but for some reason it got deleted at some point. Presumably it should have been a set and not a pool?)

Recently, I've seen a character tag called amouge. It looks like at first this was used for images that were a combination of the two characters, like these:

However the tag has also been applied to images that are just Amy wearing Rouge's clothes, like these:

My question is: should the Amouge tag be applied to all images where Amy Rose is wearing Rouge the Bat's clothes (and vice versa, as in post #3432988)? Or should it be used only for images that show a character who is a clearly a combination of both of their physical features (bat wings, larger ears, etc)?

For now I've started a set for all these types of clothing_swaps and character combinations of the pair:

that tag should not exist. we shouldn't be tagging unofficial fusion results at all. with the only exception being when the fusion result is pretty much just a whole character with a consistent unique design, the only examples of this I can think of is off hand is like sonichu and maybe renimpmon_x.

this tag is just used on any amy_rose rouge_the_bat fusion post with no regard for having similar designs.

So why should Amy wearing Rouge's outfit be tagged Amouge ?

My thinking was that maybe there are certain fan communities where the Amy+Rouge combination/clothing swap meme had become widespread enough that it had got its own consensus fan name? Similar to what happened with Bowsette (but on a smaller scale).

But I've just checked, and now I see that even Bowsette doesn't have a character tag - just the copyright tag bowsette_meme.

After I started this topic, I noticed that Argento's unofficial combination characters from post #750842 had been tagged with fan character and given character name tags that make it clear that they're Argento's characters. Is it appropirate to keep these character names as tags, similar to others that follow the "[character name]_([artist])" format?

e.g. this one has the description "'Cherrie is the name I finally decided on for the tri-fusion of Rouge, Blaze, and Amy I made a whiles back. This is her. A slight redesign to keep it less “Amy like.”'"

Oh, thanks, I didn't notice the fusion tag on some of the images! That's given me a few extra pics to add to the set I started - I was focued on looking for them via the alternate_costume, clothing_swap and cosplay tags.
