Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: yoshi_(character) -> yoshi

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

There is a single yoshi that is named Yoshi that functions as one of the main charactars for the Mario series. he just looks like a normal green yoshi but in context it's a distinct character. And, I mean we also have kamek, birdo_(character), and toad_(character) (nevermind I guess those got nuked ay some point, just Kamek, then) who are also just basic non-descript members of their species other than having backstory.

It's a character tag so there's a little bit of wiggle room from TWYS.

We don't imply characters to species since they can be drawn as a different species while recognisable as that character. (Or the character is being cosplayed as)
Misread as implication

Birdo is back as a character tag, though toad is pretty ambiguous.

Birdo is back as a character tag, though toad is pretty ambiguous.

Unlike Birdo or Yoshi, Toad is untenable. Toad, as a character on his own rather than a generic copy-pasted npc, only exists in a few games, the earlliest being Super Mario Bros 2 and the latest I can recall being Mario Party 8 or 7 maybe? Fanart for those games could use the toad_(character) tag, but more likely the tag will be misapplied onto generic toad pictures.

A stronger argument could be made for yellow toad and blue toad character tags than for toad_(character).

ash's pikachu is just a normal pikachu, but we don't alias him because he's a unique individual :P

I dunno if it's a jab at snp's comment or is about the bur itself, but Ash's Pikachu is a Pikachu whom is distinctly traveling alongside Ash, which''s why it's valid.

Going off that logic, Yoshi is valid given it is a fleshed out character that distinctively appears in many games and alongside Mario.

I remember the flock of yoshis from the Mario movie after the end credits and I dont think anybody mistakes them for the Yoshi from Super mario World and Yoshi's Island.

Toad on the other hand, is pretty inconsistent in character development and only appears in a few select games as a standalone character.

Not meant to be a jab at all, just a comment on the BUR!

So, how do we tell the difference between Character Yoshi and a generic green yoshi?
